Microsoft exec dismisses Sony's Gamescom dig

Sony's PlayStation leader Andrew House, decided to take some time near the end of its Gamescom press conference on Tuesday to take a shot at Microsoft, specifically on its many changes it has made for the Xbox One between its reveal in May to today. House hinted that Microsoft had "shifted their message and changed their story" in regard to the Xbox One while Sony has stayed on target with the PS4.

Today, Microsoft Studios head Phil Spencer dismissed Sony's "shifting message" jab during a Eurogamer interview, saying that their efforts to listen to consumers was in fact an advantage. Spencer stated:

The two-way conversation we have with our customers is a strength. Certain people have tried to turn that into something that's a bad thing about what we're trying to do, and I just disagree.
Spencer used the example of his own participation at a community event at Gamescom on Tuesday night, were members of the general public were able to play Xbox One games. Spencer said he walked the floor and listened to comments from gamers, both good and bad, about the Xbox One launch titles that were playable on the floor.

In the end, Spencer says that Microsoft is still committed to its digital vision for games and the Xbox One console, despite making changes to their original plans to accommodate gamers who still want physical media. He stated, "It meant some delays in some of the stuff around digital so we could fit in the time to get physical done at launch, but our vision remains the same."

Proclaim Well Xbox is still the better console it has been since the original xbox. Sells more, has better games, better exclusives, more competition. PS4 will always have online issues. It getting constantly hacked. Sony should of stayed to making tv's. They arn't good at making a console.

1. Xbox is not better. The community is trash the hardware is ****. I mean i've gone through 4 xbox controllers. And for the PS3? zero controllers. What kind of console still uses a disc tray? I remember when i was playing MW2 and i moved my xbox. it **** up my disc thanks MS. Worthless system.

2. It sells more because of the 12-year-olds.

3. Better games? Like what? Better exclusives? Name me 5 that aren't ****. PS3 has the best exclusives *cough* The Last of Us *cough*.

4. What competition? Oh you mean fagmlg and gaybattles? Wow such great competition *rolls eyes*.

I'm forced to agree with the statement about the community,the idiots online have ruined it for XBOX completely and not enough is being done about it so i stopped with the 360 completely and have had a much better time with my PS3 and 3DS over the last 6 months or so and it's definately a PS4 for me.360 is only more popular in the USA.. and the XBOX ONE is geared more towards the US market.MS are just getting more greedy and considering the amount of money they make from XBOX Live they should do a much better job of it.It's all about the games i know and the PS4 exclusive titles look better to me,there's some good XBOX stuff coming too but i refuse to pay good money to play online with kids who cheat and disconnect everytime they start to lose.

Sony has been hacked once, Sony have made the best consoles to date, PS2 beat Xbox, PS3 has sold the same amount of consoles as Xbox 360 despite releasing a year later than Xbox. So maybe Microsoft should stick to making Computers.


omg insanelyawesome - i totally agree with you , big whoop sony got hacked once but xbox has had a **** lot of outages just in this year , ps1 dominated when it released , ps2 was branded the best console of its time and as this guy said ps3 released a year later than xbox and still managed to sell the same amount of consoles , infact a recent poll shows that the ps3 has now sold more consoles than the 360 :)

Xbox has a sh*t ton of outages? They've only had three this year and the longest outage lasted 4 hours. It also wasn't even a complete outage, anybody already logged in could still play


PS2 was still better than the original xbox. But sony was hacked for a few hours and then the next 2 months was just legal stuff and maintenance. They cam back made a proper apology and gave their consumers free games. As a PC gamer I have a lot of respect for sony.


True but people lost their personal info after the hack which should have never happened.


Lets explain here, well when the xbox og came out i got it but was sadly dissapointed as it broke every year after the 2nd console. i got tired and bought a ps2, best gaming in my life at that point lasted years and still works dropped it 6 feet 3 times never broke. but as for the 360 i went back and became a fan instantly but now that i see whats going on i no longer respect microsoft because they are greedy. and ps has always had the more powerful consoles, microsoft ruined rare ltd makers of banjo kazooie got greedy and kept raising the price of xblg. im sick of it, im switching to ps4 and im happy with it more powerful psn is only $5 a month, im sorry that i couldnt continue being a fan, but they have to be different, as for all of you both consoles have pros and cons, both had defects(the 360 had more than the ps3, but hey), and last but not least they are almost evenly matched, i think they should just become 1 console, but that will never be


The sad thing is it should have been named the Xbox 720 or even Xbox 3 not 1 why would them stupid ***** name it xbox one when there is all ready a xbox 1? If you want my opinion, its not that big of deal to argue about. if you like Sony/PlayStation better, then so be it, and vice versa. Each company/console has its ups and downs and advantages and disadvantages. I feel like each company has done pretty well to justify the prices of each console and everyone can start judging them properly once the consoles are actually released and they use both consoles. (This is the longest quote argument I've seen in a while...)
