Xbox One video shows off Kinect facial scanning

4.7
Microsoft has released a new video to show off how well the new Xbox One Kinect can scan and build a virtual representation of your face.

Kinect Sports Rivals will utilise the feature to create playable avatars that closely resemble the player.

Kinect Sports Rivals is a Kinect-controlled bundle of sports events including soccer, climbing, wake racing, bowling, target shooting, tennis and more.

The game was initially slated to be among the list of Xbox One launch games this November, but will now release during Spring 2014, or Autumn in Australia, following a delay in July.

According to Microsoft the delay will allow Rare to further polish the Kinect title, which is the studio's first release for Xbox One.

ODST It's not that I care about the Kinect being on it as much as I'd prefer it if the Kinect was like a web cam and had a light that told you when it was active. I want to know if someone else is looking at me or if I'm turning the actual camera on.

Does any one every read new articles? You don't need it on. And you can set it away, off,on when it's plugged in

Dee-Bo I wonder how Microsoft will react when they spy on someone masturbating! They might not have thought that bit through. good times

I'm sure that they have. I doubt they will care.

I didn't think about that.. Be sure to turn your Xbox off when
you're planning to do it, haha!

byLeon i find it odd that this camera is so good for personal use from a company like microsoft that its is aware of your surroundings and recognize your face so well it can sign you in at the moment you turn it on. im not okay with this as people can already tap into webcams what makes you think they wont with kinect.

Anyone can tap into anything if they have the skill.

True, as everyone saw with the PS hack.
Although I doubt anyone will hack into Microsoft just to see people through a Kinect sensor

yes but the PSN attack wasn't personal it was a bigger issue on why they hacked it plus at any time microsoft can get hacked. no one is hack proof you microsoft fans have got to let that 2011 mistake go as we have let the drm mistake go. and why wouldnt people hack into a kinect sensor? they already read your emails, text take photos of you people are creepy never doubt what they will do, i dont want a console that can monitor my heart rate that is taking it way too far.

It's a sensor not a console. Sony would do they same but they're not capable

they are the same both companys are capable of alot of things, but not being capable of forcing accessories and policy's is a good thing.
