Rumor: Microsoft giving away white Xbox Ones to some of its employees

While most folks are waiting patiently for the launch of the brand new Xbox One, Microsoft has gone ahead and made its employees an offer they can’t refuse. Following its tradition of gifting their own devices to the folks that help build them, the company is supposedly giving away a special edition of the Xbox One to the full-timers in its Interactive Entertainment Business.

This special edition Xbox will reportedly feature a white and silver casing with controller, which, many folks would argue, looks even better than the “liquid black” of the retail version of the device. Eligible employees will also receive a year of Xbox Live and all first party games for free.

Of course, this isn’t the first time we’ve seen the white Xbox One. A leaked developer kit showed up last month looking somewhat similar to the one in this image. And we can’t confirm just yet if this rumor is true, but if it is, some Microsoft employees will be very happy come November.

Yep, just because It's white it'll cost more money.


I couldn't see Microsoft not eventually releasing a white model. I could see it being slightly like the Xbox 360 Elite. A small upgrade in specifications may be necessary to have people make the switch from their old Xbox One's

I personally like the black one much better, it looks more sleek and i find that black will not stick on in my living room. I've never been a fan of the white 360 either

That's a pretty cool feature to have with it. It will act as bragging rights for Microsoft employees or even just memorabilia of their time with the company. Of course i could see these going up on ebay for $1000+

yeah, there has never really be a whit version or any sort of different colour of the console announced this early. hopefully there is more colours :D

The reason they are giving Kinect's is because last time the sensor wasn't really used, game developers didn't know how many people had Kinect and couldn't make games for it.
They are shipping it with it now so game dev's can make games for it instead of having it only for Skype calls etc.
