GameStop managers to receive free Xbox One

Turns out, in addition to a PlayStation 4, GameStop managers will also receive an Xbox One this holiday season. The announcement was made at the retailers' expo in Las Vegas a few hours after it revealed managers would receive a PS4 and seven games.

Neowin reached out to GameStop and the company confirmed the detail. The Xbox One console will be given to all the general managers of the company's 6,500 stores, whether or not they attended the expo. No word on whether it will also include software.

They have plenty. Microsoft.com will never stop taking pre-orders


They will continue to make consoles, they are just placing Gamestop managers and Microsoft employees at a higher priority than normal consumers

My guess is that Sony originally offered gamestop managers a free PS4 to tip the favor of the store in their direction. So if a customer walked in and asked what was better, the manager/employees would recommend a PS4. Microsoft countered this so that they are both on equal terms.

I sure do with i was a Gamestop manager though, they are getting over $1000 worth of free stuff

Yeah, they are being pretty generous when it comes to giving their consoles away ._. i would say it's to better their public image

Actually, I know a few Gamestop managers. Trust me, it doesn't take much brain power to become a Gamestop manager. Honestly, Nireland is correct. Gamestop managers do not promote the consoles. They do not push sales. They do not come out front and engage the customers. For the most part, they ARE useless. They, absolutely, do not deserve free consoles. This is truly a slap in the face to those of us that have been voluntary beta testers for Microsoft for years, 2-3 year veterans of the Xbox Ambassador program, voluntary Code Enforcement. All for what? So that we get nothing, while some douchebag that knows very little about gaming gets free games and consoles?
