Microsoft: Xbox One is worth $100 more than PlayStation 4

Xbox director says company is not stressing over being the most expensive console this holiday season; "I just believe that we're going to have a better system," says Albert Penello.

The Xbox One will be $100 more than the PlayStation 4 and $200 more than the Wii U this holiday season, but Microsoft is not stressing over its stance as the most expensive console.


"It’s up to us to prove that it’s worth $100 more. I think it is," senior director of product planning and management at Xbox Albert Penello told GameSpot today at PAX Prime in Seattle, Washington.

Penello said the suite of games and services Microsoft is offering with the Xbox One is stronger than the competition.

"I think we do more. I think our games are better. I think as people start to experience Kinect and see what it can do using voice, I think that’s better," he added. "I think the ability to have an all-in-one system where you can plug in the TV, that’s better. I think we’ll have a better online service."

"I just believe that we’re going to have a better system."

Ultimately, consumers want to buy the "best thing," Penello said. The Xbox One's stance as the most premium console this holiday season won't hold it back, he argued.

"$100, when you’re talking $400 vs. $500 [shrugs shoulders]. I don’t believe it’s going to be the deal-killer," he said.

The Xbox One launches in November for $500.

GI can understand that. The X1 can do anything the PS4 does, the X1 can do way way more that the PS4.

Not to brag that it comes with a Kinect, the best known gaming camera with the best software, only for $100.

There's only a $50 different here(AUS). The PS4 went up $150 compare to the US, while the Xbox1 only went up $100. Make's you wonder.

Fanboys will always say Xbox is gonna be better, but to be honest; I think PS4 has the upper-hand here, and I hope they do, but also hope they don't.

It'll give Xbox fanboys less room to brag and annoy people, but will give it to Sony fanboys.

Regardless of which, PS4 seems to look better, but either way people are gonna pick sides and fanboy it up towards them, so truly neither will "win" as long as kids pick sides.

Anyways, the Xbox being $100 less is a bit ridiculous, being that you still have to pay to play online and enjoy benefits, and kinect isn't really all that interesting enough to add $100. The reason Microsoft wants it at this price is because they can. Think about it, Microsoft knows that kids will have their moms, and fanboys and supporters will pay that $500 regardless of how good it is. 'Doesn't matter how good it is, they'll out-profit PS4, more than likely because of the price.

Can't wait to get both consoles. Playing multiplayer games like call of duty and titanfall are going to be way better on xbox one because of xbox cloud dedicated servers babe !

XeXSIushyFTW It automatically costs as 560$ cause without a Game it would be not that fun that i want :p and if someone is complete new he needs to pay for Gold Membership too we all need new Microphones etc,without 600$ its not WORTH to buy the Xbox One.


Look at what you're getting...
Xbox one, Kinect, Controller, Headphones, Awesome games like Titanfall, the ability to do everything on just that system. (Hook up cable box to Xbox one) Skype, etc.
