PlayStation 4 will support four controllers

PlayStation 4 will support four controllers - three less than the PS3.

SCE Worldwide Studios head Shuhei Yoshida confirmed the news on Twitter earlier today, specifying that the console will support four controllers at once.

This is down from the seven supported by PS3, and follows news earlier this week that the Xbox One will support eight controllers concurrently.

Yoshida didn't elaborate on the reduction, though very few PS3 games have taken advantage of the system's seven controller support.

According to CVG sources, Sony will reveal a PlayStation-branded virtual reality head-mounted display at the Tokyo Game Show later this month, where it will also show more than 50 games.

Meanwhile, Sony has confirmed the PS4 will support voice navigation and facial recognition via the PlayStation Eye.

PS4 will release November 15 in the US and November 29 in Europe and Australia.

More is always better, you don't have to use and probably wont use 8 controllers but the support for it is nice, me and my friends play FIFA and that will be great with 8 controllers.


Imagine 8 split screens . You would barely see ur screen unless you have a 100" tv. 4 is perfect
Millions of monitors/TV's over 80" have been sold. There was plenty of games that supported PS3's 7 controller experience. You're opinion isn't really valid.


He said playing Fifa(Assuming It's like other sports games bc I haven't played it) that means its only one screen and everyone is on it and maybe their player has a different color or number or something to differentiate. Not every game is a shooter or other type that requires multiple screens for multiple players. Not to mention YOU DON"T HAVE TO USE ALL 8, It's just supported so you can where as the ps4 if you wanted more than four you can't because It's not supported.
