Xbox One stock will be available on day one, Microsoft assures

Xbox One pre-orders may be rolling on as you read this, but Microsoft’s Phil Spencer doesn’t want there to be a shortage of units come launch day. That – to him – is a terrible consumer experience he’d rather avoid.

Speaking with GameInformer, Spencer said, “You want people to be able to walk in the store and buy one on day one, so you’re trying to manage the inventory that isn’t pre-sold. It’s not a yield problem, it’s us trying to manage the hardware side.

“I want parents who don’t think about pre-ordering electronics to be able to walk in and have a chance to find a box. There might be a line, but I don’t want it to be that if you didn’t pre-order in September, you can’t get one. That doesn’t feel like a great consumer experience.

“Availability should feel a lot better than it did for 360. If people want to pick up more controllers and games, they’ll be there. We feel really good about our pre-order number, and we’re managing it through allocation rather than demand. [Pre-order] isn’t the business. It’s way more important to me what happens when people walk in the store. The business is selling consoles.”

Are you confident that you’ll be able to pick up an Xbox One at launch, or have you pre-ordered the console just to be safe? Let us know below.

Xbox One is out November 22 in 13 territories.

Zeff Please dear god, Take that kinect off and i'll but one of these things.

You might as well just get it with the Kinect. The Kinect has it's own cool features that go right with the actual console

I think they're bringing out a version without kinect a year after release, I may be wrong though.

You're talking bollocks, leave. "I think" comes out then absolute made up bs.

Why do you like correcting people so much ... You're a 12 yr. old *******

Well he thinks it's English class again, can't you see?

-Mark If Microsoft has a better supply I think it will have an effect on sales as well.

If customers go to a store looking for a new console and if PS4 is out of stock and Xbox One isn't, many people will just go ahead and get the Xbox One because it's in stock. Unless they were strictly going for a PS4.
It's a fact that Microsoft have bigger manufacturing capabilities than Sony do...

That's obvious that's why MS is worth over 230billion and hasn't been around as long as Sony(70billion) MS has amazing marketing techniques

True, if you can count monopolism as a marketing technique...

They've already made it pretty clear that they won't. I personally think the Kinect looks amazing!
