Xbox One backward compatibility a theoretical proposal, Microsoft says
"The power of the cloud brings many possibilities on Xbox One. Albert was speaking theoretically about backwards compatibility as an example of the features the cloud could enable in the future."
In the interview, Penello responded to a question about potential backward compatibility on Xbox One by saying the console was "absolutely" open to that type of connected feature. "There are so many things that the servers can do," he said. "Using our Azure cloud servers, sometimes it's things like voice processing. It could be more complicated things like rendering full games like a Gaikai and delivering it to the box. We just have to figure out how, over time, how much does that cost to deliver, how good is the experience."
Backward compatibility might be a feature on Xbox One in the future, but for now that's a hypothetical scenario. The console itself might also one day be red, cost $50 or cook breakfast for you – theoretically, of course.

TheUnholy1994pyroboy926 Honestly, I don't see why people have to make such a big deal over a console that isn't backwards compatible. I personally have many original xbox games and never play them due to them not allowing me on xbox live, and just newer more innovated games of the same genre or even series. (IE: Splintercell/Halo.) This is just a feature people want but will never actually use in the long run. It will be forgotten in probably 2-3 months within console launch.
Because people have spent a lot of money on games and love to play them. People like me with 124 games or more would want to play them on the next gen. I know next gen hardware etc want change the game in any way so don't reply with "big deal, it won't do anything different" or something.
So you will be mad with generation after xbox one won't play 360 games? lol
I own over 1000 retail games and I'm not mad. It's a next gen for a reason. keep your old system

Julianoz1224CHP would it be that hard to make it backwards compatible?
It would need a lot of new hardware, making the box itself bigger and bulkier, and making it a lot more costly to produce, potentially raising it's price
why can't they just do what they did to the 360? just make updates to make certain games run on the Xbox one
