GTA 5: Rockstar outlines YouTube policy

Rockstar has outlined its policies for Grand Theft Auto 5 YouTube posts, specifying what footage will result in a take-down notice.

Hours after the game's launch in Australia and Europe, Rockstar has posted a series of rules on its support page, writing that it does not object to non-commercial YouTube posts, with a few caveats.

In addition to the rules specified below, Rockstar writes that it reserves "the right to remove content we find objectionable on a case by case basis and to change our policy from time to time, but we do promise if there is anything we do change we will make sure to let you know."

Pre-Release Footage: No pre-release leaked footage of any kind: Any posting of in-game footage from leaked copies of the game prior to its official release date will be taken down, regardless of how the game was obtained. This includes "early unboxing" videos.

Spoilers: Posting video showing the ending of the game, pure cutscenes or any other big reveal in the story. It's ok to show cutscenes as part of a larger play-through (or in a narrated 'Let's Play' type video) but isolated videos of the game's cinematics will be removed. If you are unsure if what you want to post is considered a spoiler, please contact [email protected] and describe exactly what scene you are wondering about and in what context the scene would appear.

In-game Entertainment: Things like the TV shows and comedy performances in Grand Theft Auto IV, or the silent movies in Red Dead Redemption. We prefer fans to experience these in the context of the game's world, so any posting of these in isolation will be flagged for removal.
Grand Theft Auto 5 released overnight to widespread critical acclaim. In our GTA 5 review we said it "achieves the extraordinary... the world is breathtaking, the script is funny, the music is superb and, most of all, it's really, really fun".

Lia I sorda like that they are strict about their rules, makes me not try to watch leaked footage and ruin the experience.


I feel the exact same way about how they are handling this.


But if you don't want anything to be spoiled and ruin the experience, simply don't watch any GTA V videos until you've completed it or as long as you as you don't feel it would spoil anything anymore.. Pretty simple?


But it's GTA V, it's like christmas when you were younger, you always wanted to get a sneak peak ;)


Haha yeah.. ;) But still, if you really don't want anything to be spoiled, don't watch any videos of it! I haven't watched a single video from the game, will get it this weekend if I'm lucky :)


I've watched only one video and that was just a guy driving around. I'll be getting it on the 20th, I can't wait :)

I dont want to watch any gameplay of the campaign until I have completed it myself, then maybe do the missions better, go for Gold medals etc.

I don't even watch the leaks or gameplay.. ruins the fun of playing the game for the first time anyways

Droiidz I hate when games are leaked it makes it less fun and enjoyable when you get to experience it yourself.


I feel the same way, whenever a new game is coming is just avoid the leaks for the gameplay.

Yeah it really is dude, I'm not so happy that people had to pirate the game and leak footage.. that's just dissapointing.. honestly.
