Microsoft: Put Xbox One vertical 'at your own risk'
The problem, according to Microsoft, stems from the Xbox One disc slot. While the Xbox 360's disc tray was capable of either horizontal or vertical use, the new slot was designed with horizontal configurations in mind.
"We don't support vertical orientation; do it at your own risk," said Albert Panello, senior director of product management for Microsoft's Xbox division. "It wouldn't be a cooling problem, we just didn't design the drive for vertical. Because it's a slot loading drive, we just didn't design it for both."

DeFROSKINNY-Amp I don't see why people would face it vertical anyway. I never did it with any of my consoles.
i use my 360 vertically, do to the fact that my set up is small and i can't make it so it's flat no more room. i got 2 24' screens and they take up all the area around my desk.
And lets not forget that the Xbox 360 is pictured vertically on the box and the power button is vertical as well.

Absolutely no problem for me, I've always placed them horizontally cause I didn't want to risk it falling over and severely damaging the console and games.

I always put my consoles horizontally, the only reason to put it vertical is if you don't have enough horizontal space.

Fair enough the amount of time I laser burned my discs when I knocked my console over. I will not be standing my console up so it makes no difference to me.
