Xbox One game DVR clips only shareable on Xbox Live at launch

4.5
Gameplay footage captured using Xbox One's DVR functionality will only be shareable on Xbox Live at launch.

During a Tokyo Game Show demonstration, Xbox One head of product planning Albert Penello told Destructoid that gameplay footage will be shareable on social networks like YouTube and Facebook some time next year.

Xbox One will automatically record five minutes of gameplay. DVR functionality will play back at a fixed 30 frames per second in 720p resolution, irrespective of the game's native settings.

Xbox One owners will require an Xbox Live Gold subscription if they want to make use of the console's game DVR functionality.

PS4 will continually record 15 minutes of gameplay data in the background for users to capture and publish online.

Recorded PS4 data can be brought up using the DualShock 4's Share button, allowing players to edit and crop footage and share it across social networks via Ustream.

PS4 owners won't require a PlayStation Plus subscription to use the console's video capture features.

5 mins + 30sec whenever you tell it to record.

So the console isn't even completed. What a joke...

I wish they bumped up the recording time a little longer :/

I love how you don't need PS Plus for the PS4 to capture a clip, I'll get PS Plus straight away though, but it's a nice thing to have to upload trophy guides and such!

At least there's a cloud as where on PS4 you're limited to your HDD space.

Aggie Again why not just hold off until it fully ready.

I know right, they have alot of unfinished bussines to be honest.

Pearity
Jeff_Hardy Xbox one just seems to me to be one dissapointment after another.
The PS4 seems to be just giving me one more reason to buy it.

Fair enough both consoles will be great at launch, it's a shame the PS4 option isn't available at launch.
On PS4 you can't store your gameplay on the cloud like on the Xbox One (for free) which means your going to be clogging gigabytes every time you record and that's going to fill you HDD VERY QUICKLY!

Dose it really matter how much is recorded & how much you can share?

Anyone who records gameplay is using an PVR to record & i doubt that would want to use that

I don't know anyone who really cares about that, Almost everyone i know who plans on getting an xbox one says that they don't care if it can be uploaded to website only that they can show cool stuff they did for fun

It's one more feature than you can use, I guess that's why they think it's better to implement a portion of the overall feature instead of having nothing at all released on day one.

5 minutes isn't a lot but it's better than nothing I guess. I own a HDPVR so this won't bother me.
