Apple reveals iPad Air, thinner and faster

Apple today refreshed their iPad lineup with a brand new generation of 9.7" tablet. Sharing the exterior design of the existing iPad mini, just with a larger screen, the device is noticeably thinner and only weighs 1 Pound.

The device includes an A7 processor which will power the same retina display that has been present since 'the new iPad', released early last year. It has double the graphics performance - 72x faster than the original iPad, and 8x faster a CPU than the first.

Other improvements include dual microphones and two antennas for twice the data transfer rates.

The iPad will continue to complete with Microsoft's Surface 2, which was put on sale today. The invite for this event stated that "We still have a lot to cover," suggesting a new case or keyboard cover for the iPad, but for now we await such an announcement.

On sale starting at $499 for a 16GB Wi-Fi model, and will ship November 1st.

I love how everyone hates on apple. Apple doesn't aim their ads to teens or younger kids. They are selling to business people who would buy the iPad or iPhone for company use. In which they are succeeding. Think about it the model airplane in the video and then the finger scanner on the iPhone 5s. Apple knew that everyone is full of themselves and think that there info on there phone is worth a arm or leg. Apple is playing you all and you keep falling for it. But tbh apple makes good phones they don't like to put out advanced tech on phones without testing it a LOT. And if you're one of those little kids that say galaxy s4 is better just stop kid I don't care for the big screen if I wanted a big screen is buy the iPad or iPad mini.

Apple has really been failing to innovate lately. Eventually their market strategy of releasing 'slightly improved products' will go bust.

Truth- Just because you can make it thinner and faster doesn't mean you can't not think about the price and what people can afford Apple!


Lmao. I don't like Apple at all, but this is way cheaper than the 16GB Sufrace Pro 2 which is $899. Your comment is now invalid.


Isn't your argument not really valid when the surface pro is more of a desktop just made to look like a tablet. I don't know much about the surface pro 2 but I know that the first versions of the surface were like that, one was a tablet and the other was a tablet that ran a desktop OS and ran as a desktop not a tablet.


The surface is marketed as a tablet.
You cannot argue against what Microsoft is advertising it as.

Now if microsoft said that this was a full on desktop and not a tablet, then only would your argument work.

You wouldn't want OSX on an iPad?
That would be a bit more realistic than putting Windows on it.

The iPhone 5S wasn't a big improvement at all from the 5. The phone blew up more than I ever expected it would. This looks like the changes are decent for anyone who actually cares, but I doubt it will blow up the way the iPhone 5S did. People seem to indulge in things that contain less. $500 price tag too, oi.
