PS4 day one update can download in the background, No XMB Wallpapers

In another round of Twitter confirmations, courtesy of Sony Worldwide Studios’ boss Shuhei Yoshida, comes information about update 1.50 for PlayStation 4, otherwise known as the ‘day one update.’ He also touches on the user’s ability to set custom wallpapers for their XMB background.

Yoshida was answering fan questions as usual on his Twitter feed, and answered one fan who was asking whether or not they would be able to download the day one update in the background while playing. Yoshida answered ”yes”, confirming the ability. This should come as good news to those of us with that are anxious to play the launch games as soon as we get our hands on the system.

Another fan asked if it was possible to set custom user wallpapers for the XMB background, to which he replied ”no”, though he did confirm that you can import your photo from Facebook for use as an avatar.

PlayStation 4 launches November 15 in North America, and November 29 in Europe.

I would prefer background downloads every day of the week rather than having to wait forever for it.

Thank goodness for background downloads! I am glad they added this to the PS4, because when I get my hands on it, I don't wanna sit there forever waiting for the update to download, I wanna play my games! That would really suck if they didn't implement this feature, glad they did though!

It also kinda sucks how you can't customize your XBM menu, but ahhh whatever!

Honestly who gives a crap if your friends get it, one or two of your fiends might get a xbox cause they know nothing about gaming, let them get one and sooner or later they'll trade it in for a ps4

What happened to customization? you cannot change anything now sites like Facebook,Instagram,Twitter and now my gaming console cant even have a background.

???i fail to see what your trying to say its a tossup though its really up to what majority of my friends get online is no fun alone

So you just play it because your friends play it? What if they jumped off a bridge would you do that too?

that is a horrible comparison and entirely overused.Buying the same console as my friends isnt going to kill me and majority of people that have a console like to play with their friends and will typically buy games that they can play together,if you prefer to play alone then you might aswell not even buy online.

This really isn't more of a bonus for the PS4.

im hoping this leads to future things like this i never liked having to sit on the dashboard when downloading stuff
