Microsoft puts Xbox One in a shark tank in New Zealand

Call it a cheesy marketing stunt (because it is), but Microsoft has put an Xbox One inside a shark tank in New Zealand to help promote the launch of the upcoming console. Because of New Zealand’s location, it will be the first place on the planet to have the console go on sale and reportedly, the console in the shark tank will be the first one given out.

Now, we aren’t sure how happy we would be if our new console was sitting in massive tank filled with sharks and, more importantly, thousands of gallons of electronic-killing water, but we suspect this console will likely be given away to the first person in line. Besides, who wants a console that has already been opened (if you are paying for it, that is), as part of the fun is ripping open the box to behold the treasures inside.

The console can be viewed if you go to Kelly Tarlton's SEA LIFE Aquarium in Auckland where the console will reside until Nov. 22, when the Xbox One goes on sale.

While it is a cheesy marketing stunt, the promotion has gained attention around the world which, in our book, makes it a huge success.

If anyone needs to deviate from anything right now its Sony, I know Xbox has the whole 720p thing (which is going to improve over time) but shit at least they're actually working and nobodys gotten a bricked one out of the box

It's this crazy thing called marketing. If somebody went to see the sharks that day and didnt know Microsoft had a new console. They then would know Microsoft has a new console being released soon. Say 1000 peoole see this and 15 go and buy one. That would make it succesful marketing.

SkyDoesMods I wouldnt mind to have that console lol js, just imagine owning the exact xbox one that tons of ppl gazed their eyes over, that xbox one itself would sell for 1000+, knowing its one console that brought attention to many customers. The one in the tank


The console will sell for $500 just because it's been in a shark tank doesn't make it more valuble :/ if not then i am going to put all mine in a shark tank :)


well because it was used in a marketing campaign, and since it is being given away im sure it will have something special with it. its probably would be worth more.
