Sony: 'Less than one percent' of PS4s have issues

4.5
Sony addressed numerous reports of defective PlayStation 4 systems this week, and estimated that the number of damaged consoles is relatively low.

"The number of affected PS4 systems is less than one percent, which represents a very small percentage of total units shipped to date and is within the expected range for a new product introduction," a Sony representative told Engadget. "We understand the frustration of consumers that have had a problem and are working with them and our retail partners to help troubleshoot issues and ensure affected units are exchanged."

Given that several issues were reported to Sony, the hardware manufacturer believes "there isn't a singular problem that could impact a broader percentage of PS4 units." The company previously said it is investigating "isolated" PS4 issues and offered troubleshooting steps for players experiencing "blinking blue light" problems.

Tactical_Luck_Gaming Sorry, but I think a product should be working on launch day no matter what, if there is a chance of failures, then it is not a ready product, or the manufacturer is too cheap to use higher quality parts...I'm sure it is higher than 1% anyways that they are saying, but even if not...1% of 1 million consoles is 10,000...That is a really high amount of failure, not in just the first year, but the first week of it launching...

You explain the situation very well.

Dreams they wont give the real number its to embarrassing lol

This is most likely true, they didn't even start mentioning any problems that the ps4 will have until close to launch. Plus they denied the overheating issue and what do you know? Some peoples consoles overheat, that's not including the game crashes, disc tray problems, etc..

With the amount of units sold yeah probably.

Well there is our answers right there, "estimates" we'll no one know yet.

Its funny since it took less then 10.000 people to bring Sony's customer services to its knees. (There were not 10.000 people on the phone at 1 time)

Personally I think its in the region of 6% & then then that's still great. 1% is dreaming, went from 0.4% before launch lol to 1% :-/ yeah.

Monster-Munch Thats good lets see how many the xbox one has lol

I could see it having a fair few issues, every new console has a fair deal of problems on launch

-Brandon Not bad,
I remember the Xbox 360 had something like 50% of consoles having problems.

I also remember ps3 postponing launch for 6 months ;) you can't compare a launch that happened 10 years ago and being an old gen console to a next gen one. But I'm sure there will be some mishap with Xbone. Can't have a perfect launch/very rare anyway
