Xbox One modders make third-party Xbox 360 headset adapter

Xbox One doesn’t support third-party Xbox 360 headsets at present, but as expected, the modding scene has shown that it can be done with a little technical know-how.

The folks over at Instructables – who also provide the above image – ran their magic all over the Xbox One to make it happen. All it requires it the official headset bundled with Microsoft’s console, the ability to solder and a few bits and bobs outlined through the link.

The whole process is detailed on their page, so check it out if you want to use your headsets with Xbox One. It was tested out using a paid of Astro A40s and is said to have worked just fine.

Meanwhile, Turtle Beach is offering free headset upgrades for those looking to use their Xbox 360 devices on Xbox One. You have until the end of January to sign up for a free, official adapter. It’ll be mailed to you in March, which is quite a bit away.

I find it really dumb, that even Turtle Beach is making customers purchase a new headset just to be converted to Xbox One.
We should just be able to use our current ones on the new Xbox, I recently purchased a $200+ Turtle Beach Headset and now I cant use it on the new xbox.

I use a old wireless mic, hopefully Xbox One has a good wireless mic, I can't stand Turtle Beaches. I only play sports games and GTA I don't need great sound.

HOF Why didnt MS do this in the beginning its a $500 console and they cant put a adapter in it. They should have known someone would make one for them....

derp derp, old headsets are working with this "better sound quality".

Its clearly, microsoft squeezing pennys again. There are tons and tons of 360 headsets out there. So if the xbox one headset breaks, most people would have just used there old one. But they cant because microsoft used a unique plug. Makeing them have to buy a Microsoft one.

Takeing a page out of apple's playbook we see.
