Nvidia: “the PC platform is far superior to any console”

Nvidia’s consumer sales manager Matt Wright has stressed that PC is the gaming platform of choice, and that its functionality makes it “far superior” to consoles. He recognises that some staunch console players may need some extra convincing however.

It follows the UK and European PS4 launch.

Speaking with MCV, Wright said, “We are proposing small form-factor PCs to be a viable alternative to the next-gen consoles. Enthusiast players want the ultimate games system and that is the PC. The PC platform is far superior to any console when it comes to gaming, plus you get all the extra functionality that a computer brings.”

He added that from the outside looking in, PC gaming may appear more complex and technical to the layman, but stressed, “We want to make PC gaming as simple as possible and we think that it already becoming much more relevant and appealing to casual gamers,”

Steam also helps. “Steam now has more users than Xbox Live,” Wright concluded. “There is a whole new generation who grew up playing on PC with titles like Minecraft or World of Tanks. There’s a huge community who love playing their games on PC.”

We know it's cool and we are superior peasant.


Well a lot of the time its because they built their pc so they feel good about it, and no matter what anyone says pc will always be better than any console not just for games but for party chat (Skype) (oovoo) there is an endless amount of programs that do so much more than the suff on xbox and playstation.

The PC platform is superior. And once SteamOS launches and Steam Machines start selling, consoles are gonna start feeling the pressure. A Steam Machine has all the functionalities of a console, uses a controller, and if you don't like SteamOS, you can install Windows on it.

Another thing people don't realize is that since SteamOS is a Linux distro, you can (in theory) use WINE to run any DirectX game from Windows on it.

Because console players are limited basically on everything they are doing.
A GREAT comparison would be PC is android and Console is iOS.

iOS is very limited and over priced while Android is reasonably priced and far better.

Well PCs update and come out with new things but the consoles come out around 5-7 years so it is superior

obviously PC is better than consoles! look at the size of them! Is sony or microsoft were to make consoles that big no one would buy them! I prefer consoles to PC because of multiple reasons... more casual (get in, turn on, and play), you put put it in any room that has a tv with no hastle, the size is great, everyone has the same thing (on PC there are players that have stupidly expensive rigs, so they have an advantage), not as many arguments, you can give/borrow games to/from friends and overall much simpler!

I know there will be a bunch of PC gamers who will reply saying all of this is stupid but its my opinion. Also i know there are cons for consoles and pro's for PC, but this is my opinion :D

Exactly, I don't think consoles will ever be able to surpass PC performance.
