Nvidia: “the PC platform is far superior to any console”

Nvidia’s consumer sales manager Matt Wright has stressed that PC is the gaming platform of choice, and that its functionality makes it “far superior” to consoles. He recognises that some staunch console players may need some extra convincing however.

It follows the UK and European PS4 launch.

Speaking with MCV, Wright said, “We are proposing small form-factor PCs to be a viable alternative to the next-gen consoles. Enthusiast players want the ultimate games system and that is the PC. The PC platform is far superior to any console when it comes to gaming, plus you get all the extra functionality that a computer brings.”

He added that from the outside looking in, PC gaming may appear more complex and technical to the layman, but stressed, “We want to make PC gaming as simple as possible and we think that it already becoming much more relevant and appealing to casual gamers,”

Steam also helps. “Steam now has more users than Xbox Live,” Wright concluded. “There is a whole new generation who grew up playing on PC with titles like Minecraft or World of Tanks. There’s a huge community who love playing their games on PC.”

But what if it is true, maybe, JUST MAYBE they are superior to any console, but I highly doubt it, but could you blame them for saying it?

I came in here to find out who was stating the obvious. Looks like its Matt Wright. I don't have a clue who that guy is but his opinion is meaningless. If I were a PC guy, I would have to upgrade my card every few years to keep up with fresh software. I've had the same consoles for many years and they still release fantastic software for them. Functionality is not superiority. Eat that, Nvidia Consumer Sales Manager, Matt Wright. And oh yeah, The console wars going on is pure propaganda. There's still a lot of life in my 360/ps3. Why would anyone go along with this farce? It's like I'm living in a zombie apocalypse where the zombies are consumers who will buy anything that the fascist corporations tell them to. I bet nobody reads this cause its too long. ##ckin zombies. It makes me so mad that people don't recognize how the life of a console is only limited by the creativity of a developer. I remember one of the last games that came out on xbox. Advent Rising. There were sequels being planned and tie in stuff. It used the Unreal engine 2 and even by contemporary standards it was AWESOME (gameplay-wise). I know for a fact that any seasoned developer can use an antiquated platform to make a masterpiece. And that's what I think video game enthusiasts want. Quality Games that deliver excellence. Not excessive improvements on hardware. Stick it Matt Wright.

You can pay the same amount that you do for a console on a PC and still get better performance.

You say high setting... But would it lag to high heaven? My computer was 350 and it laggggggggggs to high heaven even typing this


His argument is invalid, a topline graphics card that you would need to play games such as BF4 or AC4 would cost half of your 400 bucks


nice job proving my point, half of 400 is 200. 200 only on a graphics card!!! . what about every other component needed for a gaming pc, what about the anti virus that you have to pay for. and even if you were correct on that part,a console is still a lot simpler and to use and to move around. a pc is a real play "Station" since you can barely move it around XD


You don't have to buy anti-virus as if you think you wont need it.


You can get free anti-virus. And I run a pc that costs about 350. my motherboard ram and cpu cost 200. Get a hdd for 50 easy and i've got a GT 640 which is around 70. psu say 30 for a cheap one. Roughly the spec of my pc and i can run bf4 fine and AC4 is the worst example of a demanding game. I can play it on full ultra with no issues on the system i'm running. Oh and if keyboard and mouse become tricky i'll just get a wireless adapter for around 5 for my xbox controller :D. Who needs next gen consoles when for about 355 i can have all that :) ?
