Original Xbox programming coming 2014, 'different animal' from Netflix

Microsoft's Nancy Tellem, president of entertainment and digital media - and no relation to Soulja Boy Tell'em, in case you were wondering - hopes to launch the first Xbox original programming early next year, according to Variety. "We're hoping we will be able to put something up in the first quarter, at minimum second quarter," she said at the Variety Dealmakers Breakfast.

The process has been slow; Unfortunately, the Nancy Tellem vision for the future of content consumption has been met with hesitation and confusion from Hollywood. "We aren't Netflix, we aren't Amazon," Tellem said. "We're a different animal."

Xbox original programming was a large part of the Xbox One reveal event back in May, and included teases of a series based in the Halo universe, produced by Steven Spielberg. Whether that series will be one of the first to come to Xbox next year,

nober555 I think this is dealing with how you are able to enable the developer setting on the xbox one. More than likely it will be like the XNA developers, you have to pay $100 a year just to gain access.


It's not like computer programming, they mean TV shows, movies, etc.

They briefly mentioned it when they talked about the Halo Television series referenced in the article during the Xbox One reveal.

Woof This is what MS is all about. Their mission is to spot a trend, put a product in place to compete with trend, profit. The Xbox (PS2), Surface (iPad), Zune (iPod), Xbox Music (Spotify)...it's all just copy and paste. Now they're trying to take a slice of that Netflix pie.

Yeah. But Jobs was the creator, or at least co-creator, of one of the cheapest phone distrubiters I've see.

Oh, you want a plastic covering for your iPhone? $100 please.

Oh, you want the next iPhone with upgraded 4G? $400 please.

Your first two sentences just described what business is about. If you were in charge of a large compony, you'd want in in the hot stuff.


seeing as microsoft was the 1st company too release tablets shows you dont know exactly what your talkin about and them tryin to make their own ideas of other trends is just a smart way of marketing
