PS4 US shortages disappoint Jack Tretton: it breaks my heart

PlayStation 4 appears to be in short supply in North America, according to comments from PlayStation US boss Jack Tretton. The exec appeared on an official Sony podcast and stated that it breaks his heart to turn paying consumers away.


You can listen to the recording over at PS Blog US, during which Tretton said, “You have competition out there. There are lots of things that people can spend money on, especially during the holidays; and the holidays only come around once a year, so that’s really when you want to take advantage of the market opportunity…It breaks my heart if somebody’s got $400 in their hand and they want one and we can’t sell them one.”

Meanwhile in Europe, PlayStation’s Andrew House stated that PS4 will be in “good supply” over the holiday season.

It follows claims that Sony has been holding PS4 stock back, a rumour that Tretton denounced during his interview.

berk549 Funny but true microsoft is stocking up on store shelves pretty damn good best buy and amazon all in stock and if they sell which they do normally takes untill the next day and they have more in stock while sony idk why they haven't stocked up every where I look its sold out since launch day while xbox one is every where .


It's because they weren't smart with business. They're focusing on stocking up upcoming releases in new countries. When they should focus on the current countries and keep a steady flow of stock going until it settles down a little. I imagine a lot of places will be out of stock until Q1 of next year.


Yea I agree. Instead of releasing the PS4 later in other countrys they aren't which is ruining the stock for others here in US/Uk/Austrailia/Canada/etc.

I find it funny how I've had 3 ps4's and have sold 2 via eBay so far yet people still say it's hard to find them. All you have to do is follow gaming twitter accounts and big store twitter accounts. I know that Best Buy has had about 4 shipments so far. I guess finding information with a little digging is harder now-a-days then it used to be. (btw, buying and reselling them has made me close to $300 profit, totally worth the lines.)

It is nearly impossible to get a ps4 where I live, where the supply of xbox one's are robust. I finally gave up trying to buy a ps4 and just got the xbox

I think I will wait until the price drops a bit before I buy either the ps4 or the Xbox one.
