Report: Wii U Outsold Xbox One Last Week

The alleged sales numbers for the week of December 21 have been revealed by VGChartz, and, according to the data, the Wii U outsold Microsoft’s Xbox One console globally last week.

As you can see in the chart below, the Wii U sold 319,860 units world-wide last week while the Xbox One sold only 307,366. Of course, neither systems come close to the numbers of the 3DS which sold 1,078,568 units last week to remain the top selling console in the World.

The news of the Wii U outselling the Xbox One is surprising due to the fact that Microsoft’s console is the newer of the two which has more “hype” at this time of the year. The fact that the Wii U sales are on the upswing can only be good news for a console, and a company, with high hopes for 2014.

Jayden- Indeed the Xbox One is only sold in 13 countries, and the Wii U is sold in far more.

But still, I would of thought Xbox One would have outsold the Wii U.

If I am reading that correctly the Xbox 360 sold more than 400,000 times?


In the week on December 21st Xbox 360 was sold over 400,000 times.

Zoidberg I'm not surprised. A lot of people, including me haven't upgraded to One. I'm still content with my 360.


Same I still play my 360 a lot because I love GTA

ArmoredHazmat "The news of the Wii U outselling the Xbox One is surprising" - Not at all surprising considering Xbox One isn't even sold in Japan which is one of the biggest countries in the world. Also Xbox One out sold it in every other market they listed, again not very surprising at all.

The Wii U is sold in more countries.


Still doesn't take into account that the Xbox One is the newer console and should be selling more.


Pretty much this, i was honestly expecting the Xbox One to sell a little better regardless

Xbox One is no doubt still in short supply, also only available in 13 countries. Not surprised the Wii U managed to sell more.
