Titanfall: quick-scoping & no-scoping are ‘ineffective’, says Respawn

Titanfall developer Respawn Entertainment has responded to queries about those most debated of shooter tropes; quick-scoping. The studio has labelled the technique and no-scoping ‘ineffective.’

It follows this new Titanfall trailer, showing off the Atlas mech in all its stompy glory.

Now, over on the Respawn forum, one developer wrote, “Sniping is in the game, but due to how the game plays it’s a pretty different animal than you’ll find in your run of the mill modern military shooter. Quick scoping and no scoping are ineffective.”

Quick-scoping is a method of aiming in Call of Duty that sees a player using the game’s auto-aim to zero in on a target for a one-shot kill. It’s not cheating, but it’s notorious for pissing people off, seeing as sniper rifles are powerful, given their history as long range weapons. Using them up close like that – it is argued – upsets the shooter’s balancing. No-scoping on the other hand, is scoring kills without aiming the sniper rifle at all.

It remains to be seen just how sniping will be used in Titanfall. We’ll have to wait until March to find out.

Respawn is made up of of many former IW employees before they had internal problems and left to create Respawn. Since the Call of Duty games they made involved quick scoping many people thought that their new game would include it also.

The people that get mad at quick scoping are the people that get mad at everything. So they complain to the companies and get things taken out of the game. Honestly that's why I think CoD has just gotten worse over the years because they take the fun things out of the game to help the people that suck at them.

Motioncorey Here comes the "Thank god quickscoping's out" or "quickscoping was the dumbest thing put into a First Person Shooter". You guys complain more than snipers themselves. I'd expect ACTUALL snipers be mad at this but no, it's the people against snipers. Nobody cares about how you feel about snipers. Typical hypocrites. First you're mad at getting "hard-scoped" in a corner across the map, to getting your panties in a twist because you got quickscoped.


You claim no one cares, but you clearly do. Otherwise you wouldn't have spent time commenting about them.

Maybe I will try it. I was never to affected by quick and no scoopers. I could always kill them first.
