Microsoft sold 3 million Xbox One consoles in 13 countries before the end of 2013, the company announced today; the first time sales figures have been released since it announced 2 million consoles were sold within the first 18 days of release.

The news comes from a post on Microsoft's official Xbox Wire blog, where Microsoft said it's "continuing to work hard to deliver additional consoles to retailers as fast as possible" thanks to steady sales.

"Over 3 million Xbox One consoles were sold to consumers in 13 countries before the end of 2013," wrote Yusuf Mehdi, corporate vice president of marketing, strategy and business for Xbox. "It’s been incredible to see Xbox One selling at a record-setting pace for Xbox, and we were honored to see Xbox One become the fastest-selling console in the U.S. during our launch month in November."

In November, the NPD Group confirmed 909,132 Xbox One consoles were sold in the U.S. in its first 10 days of release. Microsoft updated the total on Dec. 11 to announce 2 million sales within the first 18 days of availability, a tally that includes the other 12 markets the console launched in.

November's NPD sales figures indicate that the U.S. likely accounted for at least a third of Xbox One's overall sales, though Microsoft declined to break down the sales by territory. When the November figures were released, Microsoft claimed it "significantly outpacing the nearest competitor" in terms of daily console sales.

Dorkus That's a lot of my xbox's but the only reason they're behind in sales compared to the PS4 is because it's $100 cheaper.


A 100$ cheaper, out a week earlier, and in 48 countries compared to 13.

Actually its only around $130,000,000(Profit) since it cost around $478 for them to produce and ship out their consoles, so about $22 profit per Xbox ends up to be = actually i was wrong, they've mad $66,000,000 million in profits.


That's still an impressive amount of cash for them, and don't forget they also make money from games and all the Xbox One products.


Actually, since you want to try and be smart. No it is not about $130,000,000, it's more than that. $478 is what it would cost you to buy the parts and make it yourself. Big name companies like Microsoft buy items in bundles which leads to them receiving discounts. So there total expenses might actually be in the $250-300 range.


it doesn't matter how much they've made all you need to know is they have made a lot and 3 million sold and I still haven't got one haha ::)

Actually it was confirmed that microsoft was spending $471 per console and sony was spending around $386 per console. If i wanted to build my own xbox one as a pc, Since it uses customs parts i would have to find parts with the same performance. which would cost me around $600+

CPU: AMD FX-8150
MOTHERBOARD: Asus Crosshair V Formula-Z AM3+
POWER SUPPLY: Cooler Master Silent Pro Gold Series 1200W
RAM: Corsair Dominator Platinum
VIDEO CARD: Radeon 7770 GHz Edition Video Card w/1GB
HARD DRIVE: Western Digital 7200 RPM SATA 2.0

That is what i would need to be on par with the xbox one.
So actually to build an xbox one myself would cost me around $914.97, which since like you mentioned microsoft buys in bulk, They can get and manufacture for only around $478. So in the end it actually cost around 2x$478 just to build your own xbox one. so in the end i was still correct.


Still not correct, factor in shipping and the retailers cut and the profit is less, if any.
