Steam Machine: 13 models prices and detailed, 250 games running on SteamOS already

Valve brought 13 Steam machine models to show to press at CES 2014 – one more than we were expecting after a list of partners published yesterday.

In addition to the dozen manufacturers listed yesterday, Valve had Digital Storm’s machine on show. Photos from the event published by The Verge show a wide variety of boxes, ranging from set-top box sized micro-consoles to consoles the size of a PS4 or Xbox One.

Polygon gathered specs and initial pricing details for the boxes on show from a Valve brochure; see the full list below. Maingear’s Steam Machine was not detailed.

Valve offered no release date information, preferring to leave individual announcements to manufacturers. Instead of making these announcements, it intends to use its CES presence to gather feedback, to assist its partners in crafting the final devices.

Around 250 Steam games support Steam Machines so far.

Valve confirmed that manufacturers will be producing their own versions of the Steam Controller, although Valve will still produce its own model. On that note, Engadget reports Valve hasn’t completely ruled out making its own Steam machine.

Hmmm, I like that this is coming and I might actually get one of these eventually, but for now I'll stick to my PC. Probably wouldn't get one of these till like 1-2 years after it's released.

Zoidberg Those prices are ridiculous.

They are pretty damn high if you ask me. Not something that a normal individual can purchase

Some of them do have some really nice specs, but still I can't see a lot of people forking over money to buy one.

Pretty much. The specs are really nice yet you could likely save money building your own PC

Because of the hardware... but yes, the average console user won't be willing to fork over that much money, especially when it only connects to steam

I could not tell whether you were just being serious or trolling. True consoles will never be wiped out because of their simplicity and ease to use but they are not better than PC gaming. PC games are not over run by cheaters. Yes there are mods that enhance the experience for games but for most games people don't cheat online. If they do cheat they are usually banned by the Admin, VAC, battle eye, etc. Hell cheating is more controlled on most PC games than GTA 5 or the older Call of Duty games. Some developers don't prefer consoles because cheating is controlled. They prefer console because of the market to the casual gamer. In other words $$$. But most make a PC version because it is not to hard to port some games over to the system you were already making the game on. Many companies encourage modding because it really is an amazing thing. Look at Skyrim! Skyrim's director Todd Howard even said himself that he believes that the PC is the superior platform because the modders can make a game that was supposed to last for 300 hours of gameplay go on for 1000+. In todays gaming world, adding mod support is considered one of the best things a developer can do for their game. If what you were saying was serious it shows your ignorance and how you are not a "TrueHardcoreGamer."

most modders Ruin the game moron. like GTA:4 for the PC you have iron man with jet pack and ur able to fly. u have cares that can fly. most modders mod the game to be somthing diffrent from the reg game. if i was playing BF4 for PC for example & down the line somone modded the game & he was able to modd a idk star track spaceship as a jet. i would stop playing the game cuz that be **** STUPID. its a army game NOT star wars, so modders ruin games. and controlled cheaters on PC LMFAO lies. i soon so many ppl that can MODD/hack games like BF3 videoes that u was not able do on consoles. and off all consoles will never die for fact its great gaming for CHEAP did u see prices up top 1,000$-6,000$ most was round 2,000-3,000 NO Normalgamer is going pay that kind **** money

You're extremely stupid and obviously have never played a game on PC. As a PC Gamer, I can tell you now all games are not hacked/modded. Every game I've played apart from GTA IV has an anticheat system that bans anyone using hacks from using the game. Every PC doesn't cost thousands either. I think you should gain more knowledge before talking about stuff you know nothing about.

Obviously. The guy has no clue of what he is talking about. The Battlefield 4 thing is obviously a lie. And I dare him to try to cheat online on a VAC server. Modding on PC is best on single player anyways. But there are amazing mods for multiplayer like the ARMA 2 ACE and ACRE mods. Mods are the best thing in modern gaming.

Huge prices. Must be an insanely strong console though

Buxtyyyyy I hope I'm not the only one looking at these and thinking they're a bit unbalanced, performance wise. The prices are kinda high for what they are too. But I suppose they are prebuilt PCs, so the price is always gonna be high.

I agree that the price is pretty high, that's honestly the first thing that came to mind when i looked at the price list.
