Windows 9 'Threshold' reportedly coming in April 2015

4.4
Good news for those who loathe Windows 8: Microsoft is rumored to be making an announcement regarding Windows 9 during BUILD 2014 in April.

According to SuperSite for Windows, which specializes in posting everything public and secret regarding Microsoft products, the Windows-maker plans on releasing the new operating system in April 2015.

Currently being worked on under the moniker “Threshold”, the pre-alpha build of the OS will be made available to developers after BUILD 2014, and will consist of three milestone releases before it’s sent to manufacturing.

“Threshold” is also believed to be an update to Windows 8 following “Blue”, which would bring together Windows PC, Windows Phone and Xbox One operating systems.

Urf If you say Windows 8 is too complex there is honestly something wrong with you. What is so difficult about it...

Me either, it's really simple tbh, well, once you get used to it.

^.^

Its not that its complex or anything, its that its completely different from the Windows we are use to. It took me less than an hour to get use to it but for it to become a Habit like Windows 7, I just had to keep using it. I still prefer Windows 7 though.

Reb I really hope this looks different and is just generally better.
My dad is 54 and has just bought a window 8 laptop. The OS is too hard for him to be using and nowhere offers a built in Windows 7..

Yeah, I had windows 8 on an old laptop and it was too complicated for me so I sold it and got one with windows 7 after a little while

i went from vista to win8 and i rather enjoy it. the UI isn't even that bothersome, you really dont even have to use it. weather you install the start menu mod or not.

Cyimking 1. Macbooks are overpriced. I had one and I quickly switched back to windows. Macs are for designing applications... so unless you are doing something that involve designing then do not get! Just trying to help you guys out.

2. Why is everyone saying Windows 8 is trash? Do you even have it? I have it and I have no problems with it and i personally thinks it's better than windows 7. Also, to those complaining about the tablet boxes... you do not have to see it. You're not force to deal with it at all. You can stay in desktop mode. So I do not see the problem.

3. How is windows 8 broken?

4. Windows 9 is a rumor... I personally think it will be something like 8.2 or 8.5. For them to go from a retro theme to a new theme within 2 - 4 years is stupid. Plus it's not like they are competing with anyone in the OS market. Windows will lead the word in OS until the virtual internet is created (futurama reference).

MAcbooks ARE NOT over priced. I dont think you realize what they are. Average PC lifespan-3-4 years. Average Mac lifespan=8-12 years. Also, OSX updates are now free. Also, the general consumer is going to want something that lasts. Im an Apple Product Professional. That is my real life job. so I think I know a little bit about the topic. People who say Macbooks are overpriced are the same people who end up buying 300 dollar HP laptops with Celeron CPUs. Please understand what you are getting with a Mac. Top end hardware, OS, customer support, lifespan and the latest tech. (Macbook Pro w/retina display uses a PCIe SSD, something no other PC sold in RETAIL stores offer)

LOL, you sound like one of those dudes who worship Steve Jobs. Also I do not care about your job.

As far as in MacBooks having being the "elite" PC in terms of hardware and OS you are not even close.

1. Windows is the top OS not Mac's OS. Hell, Android OS is better than the iOS.. but that's a different story.

2. I didn't say anything about the lifetime spam because it depends on the PC. My $800 HP lasted me for 5 years and it still works. My old school PC that uses the old windows, still works and I had that since 2006. So that argument is strictly based on the brand. You saying that macs outlast every pc in terms of lifetime is stupid but then again you are an apple user.

3. What is "retina" display? A fancy name for "HD" so get out of here with that. I couldn't even tell the difference between the macbook and the HP. Also tell me how the macbook have the best hardware out of the market? Also what about the latest tech? Excuse me if im wrong but PC's users can upgrade their PC hardware at any time thus PCs will always have the latest specs.

4. Macs are overpriced like I said. I wasted money. Maybe it's due to me being an engineering major and I couldn't download anything useful on there but I will never waste thousands of dollars on it again!

5. A general consumer wants what "looks" best which is why people buy stupid items. Because if someone wanted something that last long then everyone will be driving those old school cars that last for years rather than those fancy cars that can't go 10K miles without any issues.
