Users report PlayStation 4 error corrupting save files

PlayStation 4 early adopters are experiencing a widespread data corruption error resulting in lost progress and unplayable games, according to frequent reports in a 34-page PlayStation Forum thread.

Joystiq reader "Jim" wrote in to report the loss of 30 hours' worth of progress as a result of a glitch that the PS4 console identifies as "Error CE-34878-0." The bug isn't isolated to a specific game, as PlayStation community members report lost progress across several titles in the PlayStation 4's library, including NBA 2K14, Call of Duty: Ghosts, Battlefield 4, and Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag. In rare cases, "CE-34878-0" prevents users from starting any PlayStation 4 application, rendering the console unusable.

PlayStation forum members suggest a variety of solutions to the issue, ranging from save file deletion to a full console replacement.

Well it's kind of to be expected with new consoles, they have only been on the market for little over 2 months now


The Xbox One has been on the market 2 months to this day ;D Time has gone by so fast ;3

ODST I've read at least 3 comments here stating that this has happened to them too...wtf guys, at least report it to the web before joining the bandwagon to say "te PS4 sux". Nobody here (maybe just one) has experienced this problem yet or it would have been reported earlier. I guarantee you this isn't a widespread problem or everyone would have heard about it by now.

I might as well go make a claim that Apple products are suddenly experience shut down errors that wipe all data on the sim cards. Maybe the Xbox One is causing children to experience massive traumas. None of these make any sense and maybe happen once in the world, just like this error.


Lol protect playstation with your life, if this happened to xbox you would be like "OMG LOLZ ALL XBOXZ R DED HAHA LEL DEATH 2 XBOX L AHAHA" there is no way you can tell how many consoles are effected how the F**K could some kid on the internet work out how many have been effected when sony probably can't right now... #longlostlogic :(

Thank you for this and well my friend had it at the launch day of PS4 and couple days after it it was fixed for him...

Gladly, the big thing is, you lose your single player progress of the game. There's only a single game that I can think of where this would be truly a loss of major hours. (AC4)


And 2k14, it would suck to lose your player you create.

Latias Havnt had a problem myself yet, "knock on wood". But I can almost gurantee the loss of progress in BF4 is due to the horrible code. That game is a buggy mess.


It shouldn't have been released when it did.
