Details on Xbox One Games With Gold 'coming soon'

Details on an Xbox One version of the Games With Gold programme may be coming soon, according to Microsoft's Phil Spencer.

The Microsoft Game Studios corporate vice president was asked on Twitter when players could expect Games With Gold to make its way to the Xbox One, to which he responded: "Answer to this will be coming fairly soon."

Originally conceived as a limited-time promotion, before becoming a permanent service, Games with Gold offers Xbox Live Gold subscribers two free games each month. Titles downloaded via the promotion remain in that user's library permanently, and will not be deactivated if players unsubscribe from the Gold service.

The most recent titles confirmed for the initiative are Dead Island and Toy Soldiers: Cold War, which are the two free games to be given away in February.

Dead Island is currently free until February 15, then Toy Soldiers: Cold War replaces it on February 16 until the end of the month.

Microsoft first confirmed in November 2013 that Games With Gold would be coming to Xbox One.

I don't see it coming to the Xbox One anytime soon, there just aren't enough games out for the Xbox One for them to be offering them for free yet. They had to make this a permanent thing because PS Plus users get constant games for free for their subscription which PS users don't have to even buy to do basic things like play multiplayer games.

For the price you pay for the console you should get a year of gold for free and 2 games.

I like the Games with Gold service as it give even more incentive for people to buy XBL membership and gives people the opportunity to play games they may not have before. As for the service continuing on the Xbox One, I am interested to see whether any games from the 360 will become available on the Xbox One via the promotion, naturally if any were, they would likely be single player games. If not, then I wonder what sorts of games will become available.

There isn't that many games out for the xbox one though so i don't know how they would give out games for gold :/

-Depzman I agree with Meds. I also agree they should be more like 360 games with gold. People are used to it so i don't see why they would have to change it!


Because the games are newer i suppose? Not 100% sure.
