Facebook to retire @facebook.com email service

Facebook started the ill fated @facebook.com email service way back in 2010, it gave users the openness of chatting and sending emails via Facebook Messages. The service never really gained true momentum even while being available to over one billion active users, this stunning failure is not slated for discontinuation. The email service lacked many key features found in other web based email services toted for years; the service was never taken seriously by many.

We're making this change because most people haven't been using their Facebook email address.Facebook Spokesperson


The Facebook email service is set it be phased out in early March with users being informed formally on-site first.

Me either. This is all new to me. They should of advertised it more I guess.

Not many people did really.. i actually don't know anyone who used it at all.

I have heard of it before in my iPhone contacts when you sync your phone with Facebook. I wonder if this will make a difference to their overall messenger experience.

i didnt even know there was a email service for facbook lol sounds cool for the free call if you have no credit in your phone you could just do that lol.
