Platoons for Battlefield 4 rolling out on Feb 27th

DICE has officially confirmed that the "first iteration" of the upcoming Platoon feature set for Battlefield 4 will come to life on February 27th.

We previously reported informal dev hinting at the system here.

BF4 is preparing to welcome back a key multiplayer feature it has lacked thus far, the clan style Platoon system we came to adore in previous battlefield revisions. They went on to detail the Platoon system in a recent Battlelog forum post stating that finer details for the system would be released "very soon."

- The ability to create and join a Platoon for up to 100 members.
- Basic Platoon management such as inviting, applying, and promoting/demoting members.
- A private and public Platoon feed, where you can communicate and coordinate.
- A Platoon emblem and tag that all members can easily apply.
- The ability to earn stats for your Platoon and rank it up, and see all the matches you played together.DICE



It is worrying that there is no specific notice of being able to pre prepare your group of best mates in a pre-game lobby.

Kind of reminds me of the clan system on Call of Duty Elite.

Not really, this is way more focused on getting many players together to play the game and not focused on get the camo and all the background unlocks from leveling up a clan, they do it way more tastefully.

Axe Is this platoon stuff like making clans and such?

Basically. It allows you to set up a group of friends and manage them like any other clan.

This is a nice little addition IMO but I feel like they got the idea from clans in Call of Duty! Still, will be a nice extra for those who play BF but despise CoD.

Seems like a good edition to the game, i will definitely be playing BF4 when this comes out.
