Leaked documents have revealed that the UK intelligence agency GCHQ was evaluating the viability of utilizing the Xbox 360's Kinect camera for mass surveillance. This comes on the heels of news that the agency had collected secret webcam images from almost 2 million Yahoo users without consent. According to documents the Yahoo spying program lasted only six months but little seems to have been gained from it.

When asked for comment regarding this matter specifically Microsoft officially stated that they "had not even heard of the program.

Okay because they're watching us we have no freedom? I'm confused here.
He probably meant it as an exaggeration, but there is a lack of freedom if they are spying on us (especially in our own homes.) It is a violation of our privacy. I don't even understand the argument of "just don't have it plugged in." How about the governments of the biggest countries in the world stop spying on me through my products? That is the most reasonable response to all of this.
-Mark I couldn't imagine that they found much from the mass surveillance. Most players on Xbox are fairly young.
Taking that into account i wouldn't be surprised.. i personally think that fact of this happening is a little ridiculous though
Well that is what happens when you try to make a gaming console into a social connecting console. I believe that any gaming console shouldn't have a camera(webcam) built in.
