Titanfall is “blowing the doors off” for Xbox One – Harrison

4.6
Titanfall has made Microsoft very, very happy, corporate vice president Phil Harrison has said, and is a major contributor to the Xbox One’s success.

Speaking with VentureBeat at GDC, Harrison said the Xbox One is doing great, and highlighted Respawn’s shooter as part of that.

“Things are going great. It’s the fastest, most successful launch in our history,” he said.

“Titanfall is blowing the doors off, literally and figuratively,” he added, showing a casual disregard for the meaning of the word “literally”.

“Great engagement, just fantastic proof of users not only buying Xbox One, but using it in a very engaged way. More than five hours average use per day, which is amazing.”

Regarding Sony’s apparent lead in the console war, Harrison was bullish that the initial battle is ongoing.

“We’re 120 days into our platform lifecycle. This is a marathon, not a sprint,” he said.

“We’re happy with our plan. We’re happy with the performances of our key franchises and key partnerships, most notably Titanfall in the last couple of weeks. You can see independent surveys and studies showing our sell-through doubling in the U.K. as far as hardware. We have a fantastic lineup we’ll reveal more of at E3 and beyond. We have a lot of great surprises to come.”

Harrison went on to discuss the ID@Xbox program, which Microsoft is promoting heavily at GDC, notably boasting that it has signed 250 developers culled from “thousands” of applications.

“Just to put that 250 developers in context, that’s more than the entire independent developer cohort on Xbox 360. In 120 days, we have more developers working on Xbox One in the ID program than we had lifetime on 360,” he said.

Speaking of Titanfall, Respawn recently reiterated that the franchise is not platform exclusive; Titanfall sequels could come to PlayStation.

Kopa this game looks pretty bad....
dude are you crazy? this game is amazing! Not bad at all

I have to agree, it does look pretty bad in my opinion..

let me guess u both have ps4, either way it is a top-selling game.

It does actually look like it's running on an XBOX 360 tbh and there are a few better looking 360 games than this easily. It certainly doesn't look next gen at all especially compared to Killzone Shadowfall, there's a huge difference. It doesn't feel finished really either... better than just another COD though i suppose but it is very similar to COD in a whole lot of ways apart from the Mechs.

"looks bad" so another words none of yoy have played it. who cares how it "looks" its fun and the sales prove it play it then rerhink your statements

I have it for my XBOX ONE so obviously i've played it and still am playing it,i also have a PS4 and Wii U and many other consoles as far back as the NES.It plays practically the same as COD with mechs although the matches don't seem to last as long.If you don't believe i have it add me as a friend ( DemonSurfer777 ) and play me or check my achievements, think i have just over 40% of them done as i play alot of DeadNation on PS4 and Peggle 2 on Xbone too.The fact is it's supposed to be XBOX ONES big saviour and after all the hype it looks like a 360 game and i would guess it was made for 360 and just upscaled."Looks bad" doesn't have to mean graphics,it could mean the gameplay "looks bad" for instance BUT it really should look next gen though after all the stick XBOX has had about games being 1080p etc... It's nice to have a change from COD but it certainly doesn't live up to the hype

Nice to see this helped out their sales.

Titanfall is looking pretty good so far. I have been hearing some good things about it.

GossipPosted:

If this game had an actual campaign it would make it 100000000000% better. But it doesn't so therefore this game isn't good.

Snag I love this game. However I feel like they could have made it a lot better, possibly the CoD killer everyone talks about. It needs a wider variety of weapons, leaderboards, more game modes, and more customization (weapon camos, pilot customization, titan camos, etc.) If they were to have had all of these in it then this game would be arguably one of the best games ever.

I seriously want the ability to customize your pilot, would give people more of a reason to play to earn things.

All of that is coming in the future.
I feel like they were unable to incorporate a lot of the things that we expect in triple-A shooters because all of the triple-A shooters out now (on console, anyways) are typically members of a long running series (Halo, Battlefield, Call of Duty). So these people have already built their core premise, and now they just have to add the little things like customization of classes and more guns and such. Titanfall is not only a brand new franchise but a brand new take on what a shooter should be.

I have a lot of faith for Titanfall in the future.

Of course it is making Microsoft happy.
They are making money off of it.
