eBay hack exposes database alongside personal info

4.4
Popular online auction site eBay has reported that it experienced a major incident back in early spring involving their site itself being hacked and compromising their internal database alongside personal information of it's user base. The attackers gained their access through a series of compromised employee accounts, eBay is now warning users to change their passwords. The website is responsible for over $200 billion of global commerce last year alone while being represented in over 1000 cities worldwide.

eBay regrets any inconvenience or concern that this password reset may cause our customers. We know our customers trust us with their information, and we take seriously our commitment to maintaining a safe, secure and trusted global marketplace.eBay

Whey I changed my password straight after I found out about all of the details being taken.
Crazy how companies so big with so much software can just be hacked, no company is safe really.
Other than Microsoft, maybe ?

Nope, I don't think they're completely safe either.

-Cookie- Just shows that even a big corporation cannot even uphold there security to a 100% Kinda scary actually.

I think bigger corporations are at more of a risk to be hacked because hackers feel that the bigger and better the company is, the more the hack is worth in pride and reputation. It's always stupid because the bigger the company the more harsh the punishment will be when justice finally catches up with them.

Rin I'm never using Ebay after this, I've just started a couple months ago and have had a bad experience due to sellers and fees. This is just ridiculous. I'd close down my account if I could.

Stuff like this rarely happens though. And it may just be a certain seller(s) you've dealt with.

This is a reminder to be safe on every site, no matter how secure it claims to be, or even how secure you believe it is.
