Xbox One without Kinect 'flying off the shelves' at GameStop

Microsoft began selling Xbox One without Kinect for the first time this week and GameStop says US consumers have responded strongly to the $399 product.

"They went on sale in GameStop yesterday; these things started to fly off the shelves," senior vice president of merchandising Bob Puzon told GameSpot. "It's a huge win and a huge opportunity for us."

Puzon also noted that the original $499 Xbox One is still "very vibrant" for the retailer.

Microsoft reported in late April that Xbox One shipments totalled five million units. PS4 sales stood at seven million units as of April 6, according to Sony, with both platforms having launched in November 2013.

Microsoft made a number of significant announcements in the run-up to E3. Aside from the Kinect-free Xbox One, Games with Gold launched on the system, while entertainment apps are no longer locked behind an Xbox Live Gold subscription..

The announcements cleared the way for the company to focus on game-related reveals during its E3 press conference on Monday.

I like the kinect..i don't like the fact that is made my xbox $100 more but overall it's good. I love yelling at it to record my in game moments. I do get why people would like to get just the console though..you save $100 and can buy a game instead

With your concerns about the NSA I assume you are some sort of basement dweller that's scared to go outside because you fear they are watching you. Enjoy living off your parents while you can because eventually you're going to need to lose the tinfoil hat and get into the real world.

Yes because the NSA is really worried about watching people play video games or seeing you jerk off in front of your xbox.

I have a kinect but I dont really use it. Sometimes I use it to go to apps but thats mostly it.

Everyone always said Microsoft was shooting themselves in the foot by making it so you needed to buy the xbox one with kinect, they never listened and there sales were awful compared to the PS4's. Now that the kinectless bundle is selling fast I hope they learn to listen to customers from now on.
