Xbox One without Kinect 'flying off the shelves' at GameStop

Microsoft began selling Xbox One without Kinect for the first time this week and GameStop says US consumers have responded strongly to the $399 product.

"They went on sale in GameStop yesterday; these things started to fly off the shelves," senior vice president of merchandising Bob Puzon told GameSpot. "It's a huge win and a huge opportunity for us."

Puzon also noted that the original $499 Xbox One is still "very vibrant" for the retailer.

Microsoft reported in late April that Xbox One shipments totalled five million units. PS4 sales stood at seven million units as of April 6, according to Sony, with both platforms having launched in November 2013.

Microsoft made a number of significant announcements in the run-up to E3. Aside from the Kinect-free Xbox One, Games with Gold launched on the system, while entertainment apps are no longer locked behind an Xbox Live Gold subscription..

The announcements cleared the way for the company to focus on game-related reveals during its E3 press conference on Monday.

Gossip I wish they came out with this before, Id do it. The Kinect does nothing.


if ur kinect does nothing maybe u should plug it in or get it repaired as mine works fine, i can use it for numerous things!


He means that to him it is useless not that it doesn't work.


They probably would have sold a lot more if this was the original way they launched the console.

I don't see why anyone would buy an Xbox one now, there are still hardly any games worth spending the 400-500 $ worth. Then half of the games that do come out come out for 360 also.

I can say that for me it was a waste of 500$ as I barely even turn it on, and what would I play? Games that I could have bought on my PC or my 360.

Sure in later 2014-2015 this will be more worth it but as of now this was a complete waste of money. The few games exclusive to Xbox one are hardly worth the 60$ price tag they imo. It is personal opinion though.

I'm not surprised at all, I don't think the Kinect is worth $100 extra. If they had the console without the Kinect at first I definitely would've gotten that instead of Xbox One and Kinect for $500.

This doesn't surprise me at all. I don't use my kinect for anything except talking. Wish they had this at launch date.

well they should word it properly! Btw it could be a female u shouldn't assume its a guy girls can be gamers too! My missus plays has her own xbone and carves a fair few of the guys up on cod!
