Phil Spencer: Consumers love Kinect, they'll still buy it
"A Kinect game relies on the successful Xbox One installed base," Spencer told GamesIndustry. "I need to, as the head of Xbox, make sure that we've got a platform and a product offering that millions of consumers will love, and I stay focused on that."
"We see millions and millions of people using Kinect today. We've had over a billion voice commands used," Spencer added. "Consumers love the device; they love the experience. They'll buy it. They'll either buy it at launch when they buy their console, or they'll be able to buy it after the $399 console; they'll pick it up and add it on later. And we'll continue to make sure that experience is great."
Despite Spencer's assurances, reactions from Kinect developers have been less than positive. Staff at Harmonix, developer of Disney Fantasia: Music Evolved, responded to the news with sarcastic glee, before officially stating, "As game makers, this platform change doesn't affect our strategy - it reinforces that we must continue to focus on building innovative, compelling and well-designed motion experiences to motivate consumers to buy our games."

The kinect was really good for about a month or 2 then I got bored of repeating my self 2 03 times for it to understand me, but I suppose its better than not having one, it would be better if it didn't contribute to price of the Xbox as i don't think it is work that kind of money.

If the Kinect was different from what it is now, then I would buy it. If they removed the whole thing then put a Microphone on the controller, that would be awesome.

Heir I only liked the Kinect for the voice commands and Kinect games. Didn't see much use for it otherwise.
Same here. That is the only thing that I ever use my Kinect for as well.

I disagree with this. I don't like the Kinect and I believe more people dislike it than like it. There may be over a billion voice commands used but probably a lot of them are from the people who bought the Xbox One with Kinect before the option to buy the Xbox One was released, and since they have the Kinect already they minus well get some use out of it. I think if the Xbox One without the Kinect was available at the Xbox One's release a lot more people would've bought the Xbox One without the Kinect.

I wouldn't say I love it, it comes convenient sometimes when I can just say "Xbox Record That", or "Xbox Sign in as ...." but other than that I don't think I would really care if I had it or not.
