"On the Xbox servers?" Kaplan began, "We are looking into different solutions, however we don't know when it will work. A lot of people would enjoy that and we have got a lot of questions about it. It would be similar to what we're doing on the PC."
It's possible that the game will allow players to store their worlds on Microsoft's Azure servers (aka, the Xbox Live cloud), but there are obvious difficulties. Minecraft save files soak up more and more storage space as players explore and more terrain is generated - supporting such growth remotely would presumably be a challenge, with thousands of players involved.
If Mojang itself were to offer the servers, there's also the question of how this would sit alongside an Xbox Gold subscription. The developer's Minecraft Realms service is available for a monthly fee. Still, remote world storage remains one of our most-wanted features for the game, which will go on sale this month. If you had a server of your very own, what would you do with it?
