Maxis producer: If Sims 4 isn't successful, there's no Sims 5

EA isn't thinking about the next Sims game at all, but the future of the series hinges on The Sims 4 performing well, Maxis producer Grant Rodiek said on the official Sims forum.

"We're not working on Sims 5," Rodiek said. "We're not thinking about Sims 5. If Sims 4 isn't successful, there won't be a Sims 5." This isn't an absolute credo, however – when another fan asked for clarification on that statement, Rodiek said, "It's not all or nothing, per se, but something has to pay for 5."

The Sims 4 topped the UK charts last week. We've been playing it as an MTV's Real World simulator, with members of the Joystiq staff living together, cooking for each other, working and building rocket ships.

I dont even think any of the sims games were that good to be honest

Sims 2 for PS2 was great because you could move with the freaking analog stick why don't they bring that back having to use a cursor to move around when there is a joystick is just terrible.

Not to freaking mention there isn't any online multiplayer where is that shit at. You should at least be able to have a private world that can have up to 8 people. Don't get me wrong I had Sims 3 Pets and I enjoyed it but Sims 2 for PS2 and PC were the best Sims out.

Same here, I might check this out when it's cheaper though...like $40 cheaper

The best sims was the Sims 2. I loved that game on PS2 and i am gonna download it now on PC :D

Thing is with EA, they need to focus on RELEASING a good product, not releasing a product with potential, updating it with a price to make it a good product, and then the next year they bring out another half complete game. DLC is supposed to expand the game, not complete the game. It's a bit like Rockstar with GTA V, they released it with a lot of bugs that were even gamebreaking and almost a year after its release it still isn't complete! Wouldn't surprise me if heists aren't available on current gen consoles at all

I've played most sims games and just can't see how someone can play it for as long as people do. I feel it's more a girls game honestly...

Sims 4 will most likely be successful, so sims 5 will most likely be out within a couple years.
