Halo Reach now available for free through Games With Gold

Halo Reach is now available to download for free as part of the Xbox Games With Gold programme.

For the first two weeks in September Xbox 360 owners were able to download Monaco: What's Yours is Mine as part of Games With Gold, but this has now been replaced with Halo Reach for the remainder of the month.

Xbox One owners can currently download Super Time Force and Crimson Dragon for free for the rest of September.

Bungie's fifth and final Halo game put players in control of Noble Six, a member of an elite squad of soldiers tasked with protecting the human world Reach from attack by the Covenant.

Games With Gold was launched on Xbox One in June. A single Gold membership provides owners with access to the free games for both Xbox 360 and Xbox One, although the service differs on the two consoles in one important way. On Xbox 360, users are still granted access to free game downloads even if their subscription lapses, but on Xbox One users are required to maintain their subscription in order to access freely downloaded games.

Last good Halo game by far. I hope this doesn't end by the 29th. That's when my account get's off suspension and I would love to have this game again.

Never played Reach. I bought Halo 4 and wasn't a huge fan but I heard that the earlier games were much better. Since it's free, I'll definitely have to check it out.
