Destiny's Cryptarch sees a loot-happy upgrade in 1.0.2 patch

Bungie has unveiled the changes en route to Destiny in next week's 1.0.2 patch, and they should please fans unhappy with how often the game currently offers quality loot.

"Cayde-6 took the Cryptarch aside and showed him a sack of doorknobs. He decoded that mystery pretty quickly," reads Bungie's most prominent note. Following the 1.0.2 patch the formerly stingy decoder will "always produce Legendary or better quality items, including Materials or Exotics" from matching engrams, while Rare engrams are guaranteed to produce "Rare or better quality" items and now feature an increased chance of spawning elusive Legendary quality items.

Additionally, Ascendant materials have been upgraded to Legendary status "to closer associate them with the gear they are used to upgrade." Bungie warns players, however, that all Legendary engrams in your inventory once the patch goes live will be downgraded to Rares.

Good to know they're doing this, I've heard a lot of people complaining about the loot you get.

Monster-Munch Good to see them do this but I hope some of my legendary stuff does not get downgraded as I worked so hard to get them.


They quote that only legendary engrams will get downgraded... No mention of your current gear or weapons.

Andy- Glad to see this. this game is going to go down as one of the best. Hope they make a series out of it.


I can already picture them working on a Destiny 2 honestly.

They said they won't be making a sequel for another 10 years. This game is suppose to keep receiving updates and DLC.


But I thought they said there was only two DLC?

Link them saying they wouldn't make a sequel for ten years, because DeeJ has already said he doesn't like giving time frames for things because the community like to not forget what they say, and that'll make them seem like liars if they mess up the time frame.

thank **** for that out of around 10 purps (not from the loot cave) (no seriously I didnt go there) I got an exotic helmet and the rest has been blues, the worst part? it was Armour worse than what I already have -__-

There are certain updates that aren't needed, like the raid and nerfing the auto rifles. why must DeeJ listen to all the whiners, and not the strong players.

DeluxeHazard I am only disappointed in this patch that Ascendant Materials will be harder to get.


How, legendary gear/weaps are easier to get. Just break em down for the Ascendant Mats not hard at all
