The Evil Within is locked at 30 FPS on PC

The PC port of The Evil Within will be locked at 30 frames-per-second, just like the console version, Bethesda has confirmed.

Despite requiring a hefty PC to run it on recommended settings, The Evil Within will still be locked at 30FPS on PC, similar to the Xbox One and PS4 versions.

Bethesda confirmed this and much more in a forum post. “Shinji Mikami and the team at Tango designed The Evil Within to be played at 30fps and to utilize an aspect ratio of 2.35:1 for all platforms,” it reads.

“The team has worked the last four years perfecting the game experience with these settings in mind.”

Bethesda added that it will provide a list of debug commands that would let you unlock the game’s framerate and aspect ratio, though it warned that they’re not recommended or supported.

The publisher also added that the 4GB VRAM requirement on PC is due to new-gen consoles having 8GB of unified ram. The PC version being an identical port, is why it requires this amount of VRAM.

Absolutely nothing, a developer just decided to get lazy and port over a low end console version.


most of /r/pcmasterrace won't buy this. This game will have little sales.


This game has had so many perfect awards and it's not even being over-hyped, it will sell very well and turn out amazing.


But only once it goes on sale! ;) "50% of PC gamers wait for a game to go on sale before buying it" Can't remeber where but i saw that stat a long time ago and it made me laugh because me and all my friends do the same thing, unless its a game we really want we wait for it to go on steam sale.


I have not seen one perfect review for this game. It has a 76 metacritic score.

It should be, look at dead rising 3, that was unlocked just days after its release

Regardless of the speed of the unlock it will be unlocked. I just hope its sooner then it is later.
