PS4 '2.0 update' adds broadcast archiving, USB music player

PlayStation has revealed a fresh slate of changes coming to the PS4 interface in the upcoming 2.0 system update alongside a few items we already knew about, such as the ability to gussy up your console with themes.

As part of the new update, PlayStation 4 owners can jam out to their own beats with the USB Music Player. Though players can't transfer music to the console, they will be able to play MP3, MP4, M4A and 3GP files directly from an inserted USB stick as background music during gameplay sessions.

In an effort to increase social interaction, the PS4 will now list suggested "players you may know," recommending PS4 users your friends frequently game with. Additionally, if purchasing themes doesn't interest you, the update will allow players to customize the background color of the PlayStation 4 user interface.

Saving hard drive space, the new update will feature an option to add a game to your library, rather than forcing you through the steps of canceling a download. Growing libraries will also be easier to manage, with improved filters to organize your collection.
Enhancements to the PS4's live broadcasting tool are perhaps the most anticipated tweaks in the update, allowing users more control for following broadcasts, searching for specific games and, finally, archiving sessions.

attackedheart Xbox one outsold ps4 last month! For starters playstation 4 was released in over 40 countries at launch, xbox one only 13 countries at launch! Ps4 is cheaper plus free online! What do u expect the sales to be when all you cheapskates that don't have jobs and who's mummies and daddies buy their consoles just cheap out! Because yous are to cheap to pay for online services than yous all ***** when the psn goes down all the time. The only way Sony are getting ppl to buy the ps4 is by sending themselves into debt buying exclusive rights to games like gta and destiny. Ps. The ps4 is still available in more countries than xbox one so u cant compare the sales, so grow the f*ck up Sony ponies.


No it isn't free online and hasn't been free since PS4 launched.It also makes sense to buy the more powerful console with better games "cheaper" than it's rival.MS should never have forced Kinect on buyers in the 1st place plus they had some really bad plans in mind for Xbox One that angered people and they had to rethink before launch.

T1GER404 I think sony are doing okay. I hate the X1s user interface. It can record for 5 minutes. PS4 for 1hr plus edit the video way more. And exclusives

I mean the games are about to start pouring out on the X1, what games is Sony putting out? Drive Club?
If they want to stay ahead they need to bring their consumers the exclusives they deserve.


Funny because Microsoft has had nothing but crap exclusives. Let microsoft even out the 3:1 ratio of consoles sold then you can start fanboying some more.
