Having previously stated that December's system update will be smaller than recent ones, Xbox boss Phil Spencer said on the latest Major Nelson podcast: "We usually don't do big updates in December.
"December I expect to be a time that we're just going to make sure people are turning on consoles and the games are playing well and everything's working great. That's job number one for us.
"As we roll into 2015 we definitely have a road map for monthly updates. When they'll start up again we'll watch. We're kind of working through the schedules on those things now but it's a commitment that we have as a platform team that we'll continue monthly updates."
Microsoft released the last Xbox One update in mid-October. It focused on improving multitasking and social abilities, with changes to the console's Snap and Friends functions.
November's Xbox One system update has also been rolled out to preview members ahead its general release this month. New features include the ability to customise the Xbox One background, deeper Twitter integration, store improvements, plus SmartGlass and Internet Explorer updates.
Spencer recently confirmed that the ability to take screenshots on Xbox One won't be introduced until 2015, while Microsoft is also working to improve install times on the console.
