Sony: “we’re not bulletproof” when it comes to PS4 network errors

4.5
Sony has apologised for the recent firmware problems and admitted it faces issues with its expanding global network.

Speaking to VG247, Michael Ephraim, Australian PS4 boss, said that Sony does its best to react quickly to any developing problems, such as those encountered with the release of firmware 2.0.

Firmware 2.0 introduced Share Play and Youtube support to the PS4, but it also hobbled some consoles, forcing a reset after going in to Rest Mode.

“Listen: we’re really, really apologetic,” he said, speaking in an interview published today.

“Dealing with network and digital – I’m not trying to spread or deflect anything, but dealing on such a robust network is a tricky experience. The good thing is we’ve launched 2.01, which has fixed the rest mode, and has fixed the YouTube app.

“It was very unfortunate. We hate that. The network was down during the 2.0 release. It’s very unfortunate. Those things are gonna happen over time. We’re not bulletproof on those things.

“I think the good thing is, we reacted quickly and the fix is out, about two or three days after. So we apologise. Like I said, dealing with global network loads and concurrent users for a platform that is ever expanding because of our sales being so strong is tricky at times, and we’re not infallible.”

That's an understatement more like they're rubbish when it comes to PS4 network errors

Grimlock well it sucks for ps4. Hopefully no major hack comes in on the network

It has already a while back and i'm sure it might happen again soon because people just find a way to do anything really.

As long as they fix the problems then that's all that matters. Well, quickly would be ideal.

Int_Wolf I own an xbox one, and I can say that they both have their faults.
Xbox Live is, of course, better than PS in every way, but Sony has really good exclusives like The Last of Us, and Uncharted.
I think after a while, Sony will learn and have most of the problems fixed.

This is mostly about network errors on innovative practices yet you're saying that PS+ is worse in every way compared to XBL? Is XBL announcing a similar "share-play" function? Is XBL changing their UI for the 10th time and making the interface once again worse than it was before (i.e. can't get to indie games without going through 7 different sub sections)? PS network does have many faults but that's mostly due to a lack of funding and secondary RAM in the previous consoles. There wasn't a need for an amazing UI or tons of quick connections previously compared to now with seamless transitions.

XBL is a joke now. It's more expensive, down just as often for maintenance as PSN, and is barely able to keep up with the PS+'s free games, and now that there is an income for PS+ from PS4 users, there will be many more improvements and far batter updates than XBL.

Im not trying to act like a fool but how is it expensive ??
