Activision ordering the removal of Call of Duty glitch YouTube videos

4.6
Activision has taken a tough stance against YouTube videos that reveal glitches for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, according to reports.

The publisher has apparently been issuing copyright strikes on YouTube videos that show viewers glitches or cheats that exist within the game.

Machinima, a large YouTube network, reportedly sent a warning to its partners last week urging them to "be careful".

"Activision is being particularly vigilant about their Call of Duty videos lately; issuing strikes on videos showing glitches. If you post videos highlighting these glitches, your channel may be liable to receive a copyright strike so please be careful," read the email notice, posted online via Eurogamer.

In a follow-up statement to the site, Activision claimed that it's action against such videos for Advanced Warfare is no more aggressive than usual.

"Occasionally, some folks post videos that promote cheating and unfair exploits," said the firm. "As always, we keep an eye out for these videos - our level of video claims hasn't changed."

Sledgehammer Games released a new Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare patch on Xbox One and PS4 last week, introducing connectivity optimisations, in addition to multiplayer and Exo Survival fixes.

"We're taking your feedback seriously and Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is getting better because of it," said the developer.

-Skittle I don't understand, you buy the game so you have the right to do whatever you want...

I completely agree with you, if I buy the game, I should have the right to do whatever I want with it as long as it's legal.

I don't agree with what Activision is doing as glitches make the game fun, but it's their right as the developers to do so.

Not really because doing glitches is just exploiting the game which is against their rules.

Exploiting glitches is well against the rules, so yes, Activision, have the right to do whatever they want in stopping the glitches, they wouldn't not ban you for using them so obviously they're going to find a way to stop people uploading them onto YouTube etc.

I think this is stupid, This is how they find out there are bugs in there game and figure out exactly how to fix them. They just need to fix there game. I still like this game a lot.

They're doing this because it lowers the appeal to the people looking to buy it for Christmas, one of their biggest sources of sales. Stop crying about it. If it bugs you, don't upload the content on Youtube! Dumbasses

I was about to say unbelievable but its Activison and we all know what Activison has been doing to consumers and that is releasing $60 broken generic games, charging people $20 for
Expansion Packs that should have been in the game on launch (Destiny), silencing people for revealing bugs and glitches, and milking franchises to death. In the end it will be companies like Activision that will lead to another video game crash like in 1983.

Doubtful, since I don't think anyone has ever got a strike for uploading glitches since many channels are built off showing glitches.
This is pathetic and only highlights the lying, money hungry company for what they truly are - as if it wasn't blatantly obvious before.

But this is basically them getting free bug testing?
