Xbox One outsells PlayStation 4 during Black Friday

With Black Friday in the past and many of us owning our new hardly fought gaming consoles with bruises to show for it. But, the question of what console won the day arises. A study by InfoScout has the answer.

Microsoft had a significant edge on Sony this year dominating more than half of the console sales alone. Even Microsoft's previous generation Xbox 360 out sold Nintendo's newest console the Wii U.

How about what parents bought for their kids? Well 92 percent that purchased the Wii U say they purchased the console for their child, of the buyers of the Xbox One 66 percent purchased the console for their kid. PlayStation 4 buyers mostly bought it for themselves with only 45 percent buying the console as a gift.

Last year Sony was also beaten by Microsoft for Black Friday console sales with the Xbox One and 360 clutching 61 percent of the console market, while the Playstation 4 and 3 held a small in comparison 30 percent.

Sony has had it's fair share of being beaten on Black Friday as the last two years have showed. But, what did you guys pick up while battling out there?

I feel like ever since phil spencer has joined the team, Xbox has only improved. The Xbox One monthly updates have been amazing and the UI and functions of the systems have improved drastically since launch. Xbox now listens to the fans directly on the feedback page which is awesome. Hopefully this momentum continues. The Xbox 360 was also a good example of how microsoft is willing to adapt. When the 360 launched it was garbage. Now look at it, its amazing and without a doubt better than the PS3. Im not one to say which is better but I think Xbox has the right idea to catch up to Playstation, although they still have some work to do.

Why is that? The only reason the One sold more was because of the cheaper price. Most people go for the cheaper price. I used to fanboy Xbox hardcore but after really looking into it and seeing the pros and cons of each console. The ps4, in my opinion, is way better than the One. Although, the One has a really good looking interface.


How is PS4 "way" better than xbox one?


The PS4 is winning the console war. Plain and simple. I used to really think the Xbox was gonna be better but sony actually listened to their fans and delivered even more. Microsoft **** up from the start by charging $500 and forcing you to by the kinect with it. Then just to try and keep up with the PS4, they added the gpu boost, and even then Microsoft still got pissed at Blizzard for not hitting 1080p on Diablo 3 at first. Sony listened and actually planned how the PS4 would survive against Xbox and pc's for the next 3+ years. Not everyone wanted the ps eye, so they took it out. Even though not everyone wanted to pay for online, they made it $5 a month. Then when it releases, Microsoft just sat in the corner watching Sony give out free game, release share play, and reveal project morpheus, while xbox was still trying to fix their dashboard. A couple of my friends just got an xbox one, have problems, and already don't think it worth what they paid. The PS4 is "WAYYY" ahead of xbox to the point xbox don't doesn't even see them anymore.


Both consoles are essentially the same. Both can output games at a 1080p. PS4 prioritizes the visuals, whereas X1 prioritizes framerate. Their hardware differences are not even clearly noticeable, like who cares. These consoles are not even being used to their full potential, right now everyone is technically still arguing which console makes 360/PS3 games better. WHO CARES? They both run it. Most things people complain about for both consoles is their service and UI, which is only a year old for these consoles! They are not perfect! Updates will introduce newer things and bring stability. If PS4 has a feature Xbox doesn't, bet you in the future Xbox changes that, and if they don't they will compensate. This goes both ways. This is basically an argument over which taste better, Miracle Whip or Mayonnaise...


Except everyone knows that Mayonnaise is way better.

Consoles are all preferece so who cares.

IMO whoevers winning is whoever has the happiest customers. Not most sales.

And TBH I see way more ps4's for sale on craigslist than xbox ones.

Even though it is worse in term of specs, the family friendly aspect outshines the PS4 and I think thats why it sold more :p

Am I the only one who finds it interesting that both Microsoft consoles are beating the WiiU in sales? Nintendo needs to step up their game. Congrats to Microsoft as well.

You're saying it's not a good business tactics yet the statistics are clearly showing otherwise. Did you even read this? Lol.

And I'd like to know what makes you think it's not good business? Less profit per sale isn't a bad thing unless they don't make sales.

Sell something for 10$ and make 10 sales, you get 100$.

Sell something for 15$ and make 5 sales, you get 75$.

The goal is to make money, and that goal was achieved.
