Microsoft unearths a Windows Phone version of Minecraft

Minecraft is already available on myriad platforms ranging from its native PC to the PlayStation 4 and the iPhone, and now the hyper-successful sandbox exploration hit can also be found on Windows Phone devices.

Like other versions of Minecraft: Pocket Edition, the game is abridged in comparison to its PC and console predecessors, but does include both Survival and freeform Creative modes as well as multiplayer support via local wifi. Microsoft (which recently acquired Minecraft developer Mojang) also claims that this version of Minecraft: Pocket Edition includes a number of items recently added to Minecraft's PC incarnation including new biomes, creatures and "infinite worlds" for players to explore. As with all versions of Minecraft, that "infinite" claim is only as strong as the technical capabilities of your device, so you shouldn't expect expansive realms to rival the PC game on your Windows Phone.

Prospective virtual miners will find Minecraft: Pocket Edition on the Windows Phone store at a price of $7.

It's not even that it's harder. It just sucks. I have it, there's no point to it. It's just a crappy creative mode that is downgraded 1000 times from 1.8.1 which shouldn't even be possible

I don't usually read or post on the news so I'm sorry I'm posting this really late to when it was released but it's crazy how far Minecraft has come, now it's on every single device possible pretty much it's great to see :D

You do know Microsoft own the game now so I don't see how they are copying all their doing is releasing it on a new platform.


and to add on that minecraft itself is based of clones/copy or "reimaginations" of other similar games etc etc


So you're telling me that Minecraft, a sandbox voxel game is copying parts from other games? I don't know what minecraft you are playing but it certainly isn't this one.


actually the creator himself was reported talking about what inspired him to make the game, and how similar it is to what inspired him. Lol. Nice try though.


You're very ignorant to think that Minecraft is stolen off other games. Yes, inspiration came from others and again, yes, it's a block sandbox game. But that doesn't mean it's copied. This is the only one I know of that has actually made it anywhere, is universal(Iphone, Sony, Microsoft, Android, Windows, etc.) and is worth more than $0.99 on the Indie game section.

What other game, based on these credentials, can you link me too? Because if there is something better than Minecraft, I must play it! (I heard there is on for Space as well, but can't think of it..Currently free, but just as good so I've heard..)
