Steam Tops a Record 8.46 Million Concurrent Users

Steam’s user base has only gone up and up in recent years thanks to the service’s vast number of titles and infamous sales filled with good deals, and following a record-breaking summer for users in Summer 2014, the New Year has also brought a brand new record for the online gaming service.

On January 1st, Steam’s online service hit a new record of 8, 466, 441 concurrent users around 11:30am PT/2:30pm ET, setting a new milestone for Steam since hitting 8 million users during last year’s Summer Sale, with the record this time hitting at the tail end of the nearly-ending Holiday Sale.

With titles such as Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Team Fortress 2, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and more leading the list of the service’s most-played titles, it’s only a matter of time until the next record is broken leading into 2015.

imagine- Really that many people are using steam? i never thought it would be so many.

Monster-Munch That is more then I even thought, I was only thinking 3-5million use steam at one time but 8million is impressive

AP5 i cant really see that any people using steam i guess the pc gaming community is growing fast unless theres a lot of forgetful people out there like me that have around three steam accounts because they forget there password every time they try to log in

You all underestimate how many PC Gamers there are. How many PS4s and Xbones sold? PCMasterRace is real.

i cant really see that any people using steam i guess the pc gaming community is growing fast unless theres a lot of forgetful people out there like me that have around three steam accounts because they forget there password every time they try to log in

Wow they just seem to keep adding and adding and now the members on steam are just crazy the funny thing is they are making profit from most of these people because steam offers so many deals people take them and they are making that $$$.

Miss I have Steam, but I never use it. They should have announced 'active' users.

Um do you not know what the word concurrent means? 8.46 million were online all at once.

Steam is honestly the better choice if you have the system because most of the games are cheaper.
