Purchasable “Advanced Supply Drops” coming to COD: Advanced Warfare

4.1
Soon, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare players will be able to directly purchase in-game armor and weapons by spending a few real life dollars on what developer Sledgehammer Games is calling “Advanced Supply Drops”.

The studio plans to roll out the update in the near future, allowing players purchase these drops from the in-game store in addition to earning normal Supply Drops through regular play. Here’s what’s guaranteed to be inside every Advanced Supply Drop purchased:

Three items
At least one weapon variant
At least one Professional rarity item or better
All items come with their own Armory slot; all items can be redeemed for XP
Also inside is the chance to score unique cosmetic gear only found within Advanced Supply Drops, including the Eco Custom Exo, items from the Arctic Gear set, and more.

Players will be able to purchase drops in bundles of three, five, and ten, with “certain bundles including bonus drops,” says Sledgehammer. Purchase quantities will be limited as the update rolls out, though that limit will be removed after a few weeks. Pricing has yet to be announced, but we expect more updates shortly.

Advanced Supply Drops will be sold individually, or in bundles of three, five, and ten at $1.99, $5.99, $9.99, and $19.99, respectively, according to Activision. Advanced Supply Drops will also be awarded to players at ranks 20, 30, and 40, as well as after reaching a new Prestige level.

While the introduction of micro-transactions in Advanced Warfare might sound ‘pay 2 win’ to the ears of many, Sledgehammer Games promises that “Advanced Supply Drops are optional and do not affect the balance of gameplay.” What are your thoughts?

Activision didn't do the math... It is cheaper to buy any amount of supply drops singly than in bulk.
E.G
1 supply drop = 1.99
10 supply drops = 19.99
1.99 * 10 = 19.90
Not much, but you save 10 cents if you buy them individually.

DeluxeHazard What has happened to games? It used to be you would spend x amount of money to buy the full game. Now with that x amount of money you only get a fraction of the game. This goes for games on the console, PC, mobile devices, and even some physical games. It is just unfair to the customers in my opinion.

Because they can double, hell, even triple the amount of money per person.

Very. I miss the old era of gaming, where you could go to the store, buy a game, and not have to worry about DLC. You would only hope it gets a sequel in the near future. Now, they nickel and dime you to hell.

It's always great to see these companies get more and more greedy everyday.

activision sure knows how to ruin games

You'd think they would have enough money from selling the game but they are now turning it pay to win just to get more money.. stupid.

The update for XB1 has been out since Tuesday If I recall correctly. I've been tempted to buy these but they are overpriced.
