GTA 5: Modders Find Red Dead Redemption And Agent Files In The Game

As more and more mod makers for Grand Theft Auto V dig into the games files and find their way around the unofficially named RAEA (Rockstar Annoying Encryption Algorithm), the encryption is starting to finally make sense. It would appear as though it’s in place to help try and hide away some files that Rockstar might not have wanted you to see, or perhaps they did want you to see them but only if you worked for it. Time will tell.

After cracking open some of the games files, they found files that relate to Red Dead Redemption and Agent, which in case you’ve forgotten is a stealth action video game that was first announced in 2009. What they found in relation to the popular western shooter Red Dead Redemption, a game that has all but demanded a sequel, was what appears to be a functional head model. It’s unlikely that this means there’s a PC port of Red Dead coming soon, but not impossible. What’s more likely is some GTA V / Red Dead inspired DLC of some sort. Maybe.

What they found in relation to Agent is nothing of any consequence, but it’s worth showing you anyway. An image was found showing the words “AGENT TEST REEL” in white against a black background. There’s not much else to say about it other than, at least it still exists.

hopefully there is gonna be a lot more easter eggs in the PC version. Also hopefully more of the modders can find more interesting stuff like this.

The John Marston head texture is for when you made your GTA Online character, if you had a certain edition, you could make John your biological father, and it would show his face next to your biological mother.

John Marston was known to be in the files not long after the old gen release. People modded the console version a long time ago and was able to play as John in single player. The only problem was he was missing his arms, feet, and worst of all, his hat.

I don't think it's that big of a deal for them to find files, idk why you guys keep creating news stories about it. Lol, I mean, it's better than what the console guys can do x)


it is? we've been able to do this for a long time and edit the textures. everything has has been posted online in the past few days that is 'new' because of the PC release has been in the game since day 1 of console version, i don't quite understand the hype

1. the agent thing actually looks important to the actual agent game.
2. only problem with the marston files are that they are there because they allow you to create a gta online character using him as the father, which is why its appropriately named mp_m_marston, not trying to bash but seriously please fact check
