Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 Gameplay Details, Pick-10 Returns, Lots More

4.6
New gameplay details are pouring out that paint a better picture of the type of Call of Duty game Treyarch studios is making with Black Ops 3, revealed to audiences just two days ago.

Co Ops
The campaign's designed for up to four players to cooperate, each with their own customized and loaded out character.

more open levels that let you (and your co-op buddies) use Black Ops 3's new suite of cybernetic abilities to accomplish objectives as you like.

Cyber warfare
Cybernetic modifications are a bit like Advanced Warfare's exosuits, just with more flexibility and finesse. Plus you can use them to hack into enemy robots.

Mod friendly
Customization has always been a big deal for multiplayer, but this time you'll even be able to completely kit out your campaign character.

The numbers
Black Ops 3 takes place 35 years after Black Ops 2, with nary a Mason in sight… so far.

Progression
Specialists like Ruin add a bit more personality to the multiplayer mode, each with their own progression.

As a major disclaimer, Treyarch Design Director David Vonderhaar stresses that, being this early in production, most, if not all of the information that has been gathered thus far is not final. “We are pre-pre Alpha,” he said on Twitter, “so nothing is final and all of this is subject to change as we dial it all in and lock it all down.”

With that out of the way, let’s take a look at some of the latest details.

According to those who’ve had hands-on time with the game, Black Ops 3’s Create-A-Class once again adopts the Pick-10 system that gained much popularity in Black Ops 2. It returns in more-or-less the same fashion, but with a few alterations.

As before, players will be able to use Wildcards to stock up on Perks — six in total, if they so desire — or make extra room to equip up to four grenades — two lethal and two tactical. The option to equip two primary weapons is also still there with Wildcards like Overkill.

What differs in Black Ops 3 is the way attachments are organized. For starters, weapon optics are now counted in their own separate slot. Furthermore, utilizing Wildcards, secondary weapons can equip up to two attachments in addition to an optic, while primary weapons can equip up to five attachments in addition to an optic.

Weapons Variants you create through the Gunsmith feature, including your attachments, camo patterns, and paint jobs, can be named and loaded into Pick-10 as its own unique weapon that can’t be altered in your loadout. Advanced Warfare’s Supply Drops won’t appear in Black Ops 3.

Unlike Advanced Warfare, Scorestreaks will remain in their own menu separate from the Pick-10 options.

Melee attacks have seen a pretty major overhaul and “panic knifing,” as the Call of Duty community knows it, will no longer play a role in combat. Instead, upon pressing the melee button or key, your soldier will attack with the butt of his or her weapon, dealing damage but not outright killing the opponent. At least two are required for a kill, though the attacks do have a slight knock-back and stun effect. That said, players can still deliberately pull out their knife as a secondary weapon to score a one-hit kill.

PS Store has listed the game for a total of 12 network players. The Xbox One store and the US PS Store don’t mention the amount of network players allowed. A total of 12 players is less than the amount that for instance Advanced Warfare allows.

From the above shot the minimum file size for Black Ops III can also be discerned ; a whooping 50GB. Now this might just be a placeholder page and size may change over time. What are your thoughts on the amount of players and the season pass?

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 will ship with bionic eyes and civil unrest and neural control and whistleblowers. That’s as standard. But on PC, it’ll also launch with dedicated servers for all ranked matches, and an adjustable FOV slider in its options menu.

Treyarch has revealed the minimum PC hardware requirements needed to run Call of Duty: Black Ops 3

Minimum PC Specs
OS: 64-bit Windows 7, 8, and 8.1
CPU: Intel Core i3-530 2.93 GHz / AMD Phenom II X4 810 2.60 GHz
System RAM: 6GB
Graphics Card: Nvidia GeForce GTX 470 1GB / ATi Radeon HD 6970 1GB
Hard Drive Space: TBA
DirectX11

According to multiple previews of the game, Black Ops 3 can be run at a 4K resolution with a powerful enough rig. As usual, frame rate can be customized to fit your hardware, though a PC developer on the game mentioned that multiplayer could potentially be capped at 200 FPS, as was the case with Black Ops 2 multiplayer. “It’s too early to say what we can do in Black Ops 3,” he said, “but that’s my thinking on the topic.” He added that Black Ops 3 will also ship with a Field of View slider and that the game will “use 100% dedicated servers for all ranked matches.”

Black Ops 3 will release on PC, PS4, and Xbox One on November 6. If you're eager to try it before then, you can pre-order for beta access.

Wish they release more about the Zombies, since more of the multiplayer I hear, it just gets worse :(

6 attachments on primary weapons? That sounds like fun, and could also be a very bad thing..

BO3 better not be bad. I swear on my life if Treyarch messes up, I'm done with Cod. 3Arc made the last good Cod game.

Eh. I lowkey do not know what to expect from this game. COD always had great campaign story lines so I know BO3 will perfect the campaign. One thing that I loved about AW was how great the graphics looked so BO3 graphics will be as good.

The only issue I have is the multiplayer. Unlike AW, please give shitty weapons at the beginning then once you reach higher ranks give better stuff! There's no reason why you unlock the bal at the beginning which can be considered one of the best assault guns in the game. No reason. Go back to how WAW / COD 4 were where the best guns were unlocked last.

For the zombies, I am excited like always

DPM I can't wait to play the new zombies when it comes out, hopefully there will be a lot of really good Easter eggs just like BO2.

I want them to carry on the story and make the easter eggs as good as the older ones.
